LFX M6 Trans/Diff Fluids

So first post here, I have found tons of useful information both prior to and since purchasing my 2LT/RS Camaro in April of this year. I want to thank everyone for what they share.

I have a couple questions regarding trans and diff fluids. I would like to change both, however, I am having a hard time finding a synthetic 75w90 gear oil that does not have limited slip additive. I have 2 qts of Mobil 1, it has the friction modifier, i have looked at Royal Purple Max Gear, also has the modifier. I know many people here have recommended RP but, should there be any concern using a gear oil formulated for a limited slip application in the M6?

As far as the differential goes, do you need to add extra friction modifier to RP or the Mobil 1, any better recomendations?

I guess ultimately I am asking what you guys with V6/M6 cars have used in the trans/diff when you changed the fluids. I am not opposed to going with GM products, just not my first thoughts. Thank you!

i'm changing out my stock 75w90 tomorrow with royal purple max gear oil. i've read that it's good for both rear diff and trans, several people have posted positive results. have yet to hear anyone comment on using a slip additive in the trans, i'm gonna assume it's fine.

Slip additive is only for the rear end, not the transmission. I used Mobil 1 gear lube and added about half the recommended amount of additive. Works great for the past 20K+.

Thank you for the help.

I understand where to add the LS modifier, if needed. I am confident I have/can find the stuff for the differential. I am wondering what to use in the transmission. It seems the RP and Mobil1 75w90 gear oil is formulated with limited slip additive in it. I don't want to use something designed for use in a limited slip application in the transmission.

Let me know what you think after you get it done! I'd like a first hand review; if any improvements were at least perceived. Thank you.

Silverbullet, it's o.k. to use the Mobil 1 in the transmission. It's better than the stock stuff. Also, other users have reported good results in the V-6 M6 box with GM Synchromesh, sold at the dealer.
