New 2015 2SS 1LE already in for repairs

Hi all,

First time posting in here /owning a camaro. I recently bought a brand new 2015 2SS 1LE. I put some serious miles on it within the first 3 weeks. 1500 to be exact. So - while in the middle of a u-turn, my power steering went out. Took it to Chevy and they said a module went out and they had to order the whole assembly. I believe he called it a different name now that it's electric power steering. Well, what would normally be referred to as a rack and pinion he said they're going to replace the whole assembly.

In the mean time - they gave me a prius for a rental. It's been 4days now, I can't wait to get her back...

When I took it in, I mentioned how I wanted to get the oil changed too now that I've got a full break in. He told me it's unnecessary due to the oil they use. Really, I don't care and I'd like them to change it while the cars in for repairs. My owners manual is in the car so I can't look in there to see what it says. Any recommendations? I can change it myself but why bother if it comes with 24k mile maintenance covered.

Oh yeah, here she is

the worst part being, I work at an oil refinery. Everyones been teasing me about coming into work for big oil in a prius. Contradicting.

I'm actually making a comparison video on getting in and starting a prius vs a camaro. Already done with the prius part, just waiting to get my car back. It's pretty funny imo. Will post it in here when it's done, stay tuned

Welcome to the forums, and great picture of your hot rod. I have never been a fan of white cars, but as many here on the forums have stated, the 1LE looks downright bitchin in white, great choice!

I had my dealer change the oil pretty early, just because it was free. Couldn't hurt, especially since I did the "beat it" breakin
I later changed it again myself with some Mobil 1, all within 4k miles.

I'd change it myself as I've been doing already because I'd like to limit how much a dealer touches my car! But dealers are lazy these days because they should change your oil since they have to eventually! Btw sweet car!

Change to oil. Even if you need to do it yourself.

My dealer said 4 changes in 2 years/24k miles and I could do it 4 days in a row if I wanted. I've used 2 and neither was low on the percentage.

Be careful, you don't want to drive it for really long distances during break in.. Or stuff like that happens lol.

Couldn't agree more! Very satisfied with the color. And loving the contrast.

I'm going to make sure they change it before I get it back, it's more of a piece of mind thing. What kind of oil are they putting in there currently? And would it be recommended to switch to mobile 1 or something full synthetic right away if it already isn't?
