K&N cold air intake

So I had a K&N cold air intake on my 4th gen when it was stock but back then it was just a regular cold air intake, now they have all these different names and styles. What are the differences ?

I Installed a k&n 63 series cold air intake. I think of it more of a short ram. I added an apex scoop and moved the washer bottle. That helped. I think the stock box was more of a cold air intake then the k&n until I added the scoop.

Blubird68,

For the 2010-20155 SS there are 3 different K&N intakes. The 63 series, 69 series, and the 71 series.

63 series:
Black plastic tube for the intake.

69 series:
Chrome metal tube for the intake.

Both of the above intakes use the same heat shield and filter in their kits. The tube is the only difference.

71 series:
It has a metal tube that is powder coated and has a large K&N logo. Uses the same heat shield as the kits above but a different non oiled filter.

Ultimately the difference is in the look and budget. K&N does claim that there are power differences between the kits but those numbers can also vary with car and climate conditions.

Hope this helps you.

Thank you,
Ricardo

The 71 series Blackhawk also uses a dry filter that requires no oil.
