Lowering a 2012
I've finally decided to go ahead with lowering my 2012 SS. I have researched this site but everything is old and I'm sure there are upgrades. What is best? What all needs to be changed out?

CHECK OUT ALL OF WHAT WE OFFER HERE. Personally I like the BMR products. Never have an issue with their springs and their customer service is great to deal with if you have an issue or questions. They do have different springs available to suite any lowering wants, from 1" to 1.4". Here is an install video that we have that will show you what is needed. The only thing not in the video is the fact that you have to cut the bump stops once you get them out. All you have to do is cut them in half. Let us know if you have any questions! |

The only kit by BMR (SP019) says it's not recommended for a vert. I don't have a set price point. I'm not planning on running on a track so it's more for looks/street performance.

This is due to the weight. A convertible weighs 400lbs more than a coupe and all that weight is in the ass. I researched this a while back when I was considering lowering mine. BMR has a spring that will work for the vert but you'll need to call them and get the correct specs.

I contacted BMR when I was researching lowering my convertible. They recommended no more than a 1" drop because of the added weight of the convertible. I ended up going with Pfadt 1.25" drop springs which were listed as compatible with both the coupe and convertible. They were being sold through Apex when I bought them as Pfadt had closed its doors. I believe aFe is now distributing most of the Pfadt product line.
I've been very happy with the Pfadt springs from both the perspective of looks and performance. I think they're worth a close look.

I can get away with a slightly larger drop because a stock ZL1 sits slightly lower than a stock SS. As a result, the drop on the ZL1 tends to somewhat less than advertised. The 1.25" Pfadts dropped my car just under 1 inch.
