2011 rs metra kit problem! Please help

Yes I was wondering if I could get some good advice, I bought had a new metra kit and pioneer 5800 installed 3 weeks ago, 1st week great,2nd everything went haywire, hushed stereo heat air, nothing worked on dash, then would come and go, so took it back to stereo place who installed (certified btw), they said module or black box in metra kit was bad so we got another brand new. Module switched it out, worked for a day, back now to nothing working, could 2 brand new modules be bad, please help.

I went through 2 of them also. I now have the steering wheel control box only. The heater controls will work without the black box if you connect the pink wire to canbus.

Yes, but you loose OnStar and door chimes and rear backup sensors.

You must get advise from the dealership. Wiring is not the problem. The problem is in the PCM/BCM (computer) of the car. Several programs hush radio for On-star, and vehicle speed along with other dash components. The computer is getting scrambled signals and voltages from the module that it is not used to. Some modules claim to interface with the cars system , but due to changing software this may not be the case. Remember that GM can make modifications to you cars computer without you even knowing it through on star. You really have to consult someone who knows GM flash programs and on-star inside out.

That sucks, but sorta worth it. I rather have a functioning head unit, and gauges if that is the cost...

Any chance you have pictures of your setup (wiring)?

its possible the metra box couldve just needed a fireware update.. i just got one installed in my car Tuesday and had updated the firmware on my own before taking it to get installed. Yesterday, however the ac wasnt blowing out cold air so after doing research there are two pink wires thats supposed to be connected wire-to-wire. After doing that ac works fine. i hope u get it taken care of

Ok, took it back to ship this morning, and they updated the firmware, picked it up , worked great for 5 minutes, now stereo and gauges work but the LCD. For heating and air goes in and out!😕
