Throwing ac belt often

Any other guys throwingthe ac belt?? I keep throwing it. Put new one. Im kinda worried that LME sent the wrong balancer cause they look almost as if they dont line up but when the belt is on not as bad. Was thinking of buying the g8 tensioner and making it work somehow. Car is turbo n spools quickly

was the balancer put on to the right depth? From the service manual:

Note: The nose of the crankshaft should be recessed 2.4–4.48 mm (0.094–0.176 in) into the balancer bore.

That is for the OE balancer. If aftermarket, that company needs to tell you where the balancer needs to sit to be aligned. You set the depth using the old bolt, then discard and retorque with a new bolt. While watching to make sure the crank snout depth stays within spec.

Ones that I've messed with that pitch the belt, someone just blasted it on with an impact, not actually setting it to the correct depth. Need a flywheel holding tool, and balancer install tool to do it right. If the flywheel is not locked solid, sometimes things are moving too much to get enough tq in there to set the right depth.

There are also belt alignment laser tools that help see if things are lined up. Something that looks lined up, when using the "laser" will actually be way off.

The G8s throw them more than camaros do.

Alignment issue or belt size issue.

Mine started to walk off half way when everything was bone stock. About 12k miles on the car when I noticed it.I don't know the cure for this and have read others having issues. Today my car is modded and the entire AC system is removed.. but still curious as to why this is happening on these cars and what the fix is.

I'm not sure why it happens, but mine did the same thing. Would throw the belt no matter the brand. Gates, Goodyear or whatever. Not sure what the cause was or is really. I don't like the stretch fit belts. I would much rather have the mini tensioner they used to have honestly.

Check first reply. Crank pulley depth/alignment.

Doesn't use a tensioner or will a change of belt brand cure it, its the alignment.

Measure crank snout depth. Get a laser alignment tool. It's a two piece thingamajig that laser lines a beam onto the driven pulley grid. Its like a mini alignment rack for the accessory drive system. The laser makes it obvious how far it's off. Adjust crank depth according.

You'll need a new bolt, as the pulley/crank depth is set using the old bolt. It's toast after that much tq.

Yeah I never got around to messing with it that much. It was the stock dampener and had never been removed AFAIK.
