Cracked Rim Solutions.
The tire is fine?...And the rim is cracked....causing air to escape? As confused as I am, should I get a new wheel or get it repaired?

tire today use part of the rim as a seal
kind of like a rubber stopper in a metal tube. if the tube is cracked under the stopper then air will leak out. not like the tire in bicycles where they use tubes to hole the air as i saw in your prior thread you had a crack in the rim could you post a pic of it. if it is in the metal then you are screwed the safest way would be a new rim. if it is by the edge you might be able to get it fixed like a chip in the bead if you really just want to fix it you could use a solder from the inside. but hell if you want to risk your car one a possible cracked rim then, so be it. |

An easy way to find the leak if you haven't already is to make sure the tire is aired up, spray with soapy water, and look for bubbling.
If the rim is actually cracked, replace it. Don't be negligent, because when that wheel falls apart, it's going to do serious damage to the car, or even worse, to you.

Yes. My wheel cracked so it loses 25psi air everyday and the tire is perfectly fine. Same happened on my yellow 2010 ss. The low profile performance tires do not offer any forgiveness to protect the wheel! DRIVE SUPER SLOW over railroad crossings and avoid pot holes! I opted for the knock off replica wheel to replace it. It's as cheap as options get. Damn ZL1 mach whatever rims ain't even worth it I don't even like the style but the replicas are the cheapest option

Take it to a shop that performs wheel repair. They should be able to tell you IF it can be repaired.
Personally, I would replace it. |

You can get them repaired but it’s not worth the cost. It involves grinding down the impact area, tig welding to build it back up, then getting the wheel true (or as close to true as possible) and force balancing. And it will still wobble/vibrate at high speed. Replace the wheel. I’m as frugal as they come and I am saying replace the wheel.
