On the outside looking in.

Hey! Greetings from Michigan.

What's up? I am not a Camaro owner just yet. I do plan on purchasing my very first one this year (sometime in the summer). I came across the website just searching and typing questions about the car into google... A trend emerged: Every answer that I was looking for was provided by a google link to Camaro5.

I've been interested in the Camaro since I was a kid (I'll be 25 this March, senior citizen... I know), but I've never known anyone with one. I've just lived vicariously through magazines and what not. It's crazy because every car that I've owned has been a Chevy.

It's time to come full circle, right?

Hopefully I can learn everything I need here before making my purchase this year.

Feel free to give any advice to a first time buyer! I'd greatly appreciate it.

THANKS!

-Jay

Welcome to the website.
The best advice I can give you is buy what you want, don't settle on less because as many have found later they want something they didn't get the first time around.
Just look around and enjoy reading, lots of great information on here.
Since you are in Michigan I suggest getting in touch with Becky Doyle of Rodgers Chevrolet. She can get you any kind of Camaro you want at a great price.

I spoke with a gentleman at my job about this yesterday (who happens to be a Camaro driver) and he recommended the same person at the same dealership!! I'm going to contact her next week. I've been perusing the Rodger's Chevrolet website for more info.

Thanks!

Great car! You won't regret the purchase! If considering a SS, just don't ask if it's faster than the new 5.0 or 392 challenger. The thread will turn bad fast, lol.
I'm still learning about the different options i.e. RS, 1SS, 2SS, HUD, etc but I can tell ya the automatic(L99) is rated at 400hp and manual(LS3) at 426hp. & I don't think any LS3's came with HUD(heads up display). My only concern was/is hp, but I'm sure some other members can chime in about the different options . I've had mine about a month and couldn't be happier.

Probably should call your insurance company & get an estimate if you already haven't. My insurance only went up about $200 yr. I've been with Geico for yrs though & I'm a lil older than you. Still cheaper than I expected. Good luck!

Jay, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks, everyone!

I have a quick question, though... A very novice one, at that.

So, I've never actually sat in the driver's seat of a Camaro. I need to revise my initial post because I do know someone who has owned one! A coworker of mine in 2011 had a black 2011 SS and we sat in it on a lunch break one day. Just random as ever.

Anyway, my question is regarding space. Over the past year I've watched a ton of videos and everyone speaks about how it really feels like a cockpit and how low the ceiling is.

I am 6'8" 260lbs...................... There isn't much in the world that is made for a guy my size. I am not concerned with the backseats because I ride solo anyway.

LeBron James is also 6'8" 260ish (but he wears his 260 completely different than I do, lol!!!) and he owns a beautiful white Camaro. I've seen videos of him getting in and out of it with no problem. With most cars, my legs are so cramped.

I had a rental 2013 Malibu when my current Chevy took a hit and that was the first time in my life that I had to pull the seat up to drive!

I'm just so nervous that something is going to go wrong and I won't be able to get this car. That's what happens when I want something too bad. Eh!
