All you need is a longer bolt than oem with some big flat washerd to get it started. Than once you bottom out the longer bolt, use the original bolt to finish pressing it on.

Omg lol I'm in the same boat. Going to find a longer bolt tomorrow morning.

I tried using the autozone one and, me being stupid, ended up getting the m16 adapter stuck in my crank

I used redloctite to get it out, but that crappy 20 dollar tool is toast lol.

I just used a longer bolt stacked some washers and nuts on the bolt and put the bearing type thing that came with the autozone tool on the bolt so it was up against the balancer, and yeah the autozone tool is crap.

i suggest to avoid this sistem. the best way is get a draw bar M16 with a couple of washer and a nuts so you can work on the bar thread and not on the crankshaft thread. something like i did when i changed my camshaft and when i bought the underdrive pulley

These are the proper removal and installation tools for the harmonic balancer. You do not want to use the threads in the crankshaft to pull the balancer on. You need a long threaded rod with a nut. You can use washers but a bearing is ideal. This way all the load is on the threaded rod and not the crank. There is an older thread on this forum where a member used a bolt and pulled all the threads out of the crank.

I've don't it with the longer bolt than switched. It's fine as long as you use common sense.

The threaded rod is also an excellent idea, none of the hardware stores had any with thread size but they did have the bolt so that is the route I went with.

Its not recommended but I ended up using the ARP bolt and leaving it in torqued to 250.

The threads will be fine, start with a longer bolt and washers. Do not start with the factory bolt, its also a one time use fastener so get a new one.
