2011 LLT Oil Pressure

When I start my vehicle the oil pressure goes up to top of scale ( 70) then drops to center in a mile or so. Is this normal? Thanks for any insight.

Like above said, it is normal to see the oil pressure start high and then come down once it has warmed up.

Thanks guys. I know all the guages go to max when starting. This is after that. I just haven't seen go that high before dropping.

On my LFX I monitor the oil pressure via the OBDII port. On cold startup while the high idle is on, it initially goes to 85PSI. After the idle speed drops, it goes to about 78PSI. Then I put it in gear and without moving it drops slightly to 75PSI.

Once the engine's warm, it's usually in the upper teens in gear at idle, and in the 30's at steady highway speed.

I'd imagine the LLT is not much different.

Here are some photos of the oil psi I took a few years ago to help this same question back then.

Oil psi at idle and warm up first photo, at 41 mph in the second photo, and at 70 mph in the third photo.
