malfunction indicator lamp

i have a 2011 chevy camaro ls. i installed the k&n aricharger on my car and magnaflow mufflers. i took it to the dealership once already. they said nothing was wrong with my car. they turned off the light it came back on. i disconnected the battery and it was off for two days then came back on. i wanted to know if anyone else was having this problem and what could be the reason on why it is doing this. thank you.

I've not heard of that with just an intake and muffler swap. Did they tell you what the codes where and what their descriptions where?

they didn't give me one. the light comes on one day and then off. i wanted to know why it is doing that. could it be i didn't do the aircharger right bc it is strange to me. onstar keeps telling me it is getting to much air to the engine. i just need to know what to do on this.

First, check the connections from the throttle body back to the air filter. It sounds like you have a leak. Also check the MAF sensor (the black thing with wires that you had to remove from the old one). I don't know about this version, but on the Injen it can only go on one way. If your's can go on both ways, then post pics of it mounted and with you holding it pulled out. If we still get if figured out, go to AutoZone/O'Reilly's/etc.. and ask them to diagnose it for you. They will give you the code and the description.

How long did you have the K&N on before it started throwing a code? I agree, check all of the connections. Anyplace that has a clamp is subject to pulling extra air in.

the malfunction light came on after i got the mufflers changed. i don't know if it is a leak or if the sensor is not connected right. i will go to auotzone cause i need that light off in my car.

There you go. Thanks Rod!

To OP, this really sounds like an intake problem (too much air). I'm not saying it couldn't be the exhaust, but it seems much less likely to me.

Have you tested all the connections between the TB and filter?

Trying.

If all your clamps are tight then look at the MAF. Like I said in an earlier post, upload some pics with it in and with it pulled straight up. That way we can compare it to ours and make sure it is in correctly. I would think it wouldn't run well at all with it in backwards, but who knows. You may be the one that disproves my assumptions.

I'm doubting it's mufflers, because there are guys who've run without mufflers and they don't trip a code, unless by chance whoever installed them loosened the whole system to access it. There's a possibility they didn't get it all the way tight, but even then I doubt it.

How is the fit of the MAF o-ring? I didn't have an issue with my K&N but there's been some who have had issues getting it to fit flush.
