1SS / Z-28 / '69 Camaro...

Ok, so I've been weighing the future. I know I want a toy car to go with my daily driver. I've thought about trading up but I just don't think it'll be a good choice for me now. But, I'll have this car paid off in 24 months and at that point I'll be investing in a toy car (weekend warrior).

The question now is... which do I get?

I always wanted a '69 Camaro and would love to own one. The opportunities with it are endless. Unfortunately, it means higher costs for authentic parts or reproduction parts.

I could snag a 2012 SS model, and have that nice V8 power to enjoy for short drives while still keeping my V6 to drive to and from work. Also have the opportunity to really mod up a nice car.

But then I could wait for the Z-28, throw some money down on it, and pick it up in 2012 or beginning of 2013 if they do in fact release it by then. Probably keep it near stock and not mod it too heavily.

So it's not really want I want... as I'd want them all. What do you guys think?

As you said, because of finances you have to wait anyway, by then the Z28 should be out. Why not go the the real beast that probably won't need any mods?

Just my 2 cents.

I figure since you already got a 5th gen, I'd opt for the '69....just make it a nice one. If you didn't already have a 5G then I woulda said go for the Z28 if ur not into modding so much, otherwise the SS and modify it the way you want it to be. For about the same money I'm guessing you can put the suspension and SC of your choice on an SS and have a Z28....only better because it's YOURS

I would go with the 69. One option though, is to buy the GM licensed 69 body from Year One (13,500) and build a new 69 with modern technology....LS3, LS7, LS9, Brembos, independent rear, etc. I helped a buddy build one last year and I think he ended up with 31K invested.

I had thought about something like that. There's a bit from the original 1st Generation that I'd want to change or upgrade/update to more present day technology. But at the same time retain it's classic look and feel. I'd need to find a middleground if that's what I did.

The Z-28 sounds like it should be a beast right out of the gate. My only concern is the price as we just don't know what it's going to be. But at the same time, whatever is included on just the absolute base without extra options installed, should be pretty damn sweet.

The SS is a good mix of a lot of great things. Of course stock it doesn't come close to the Z-28 and already owning a Gen 5 I'd have the same basic look. But it has a lot of mod potential (more so than my V6).

I don't want something everyone else has as my toy car... so one way or another it has to be unique. The Z-28 there's just not going to be a lot of, and the same goes for the '69 (which can be further customized). The SS would be modified to be a bit more unique... but nothing too much (not like those 300K revamps).

So I'm torn. Looking for advice, comments, whatever you guys have. I love the '69, and I love the V8. I'm sure when the news and information hits I'll be equally excited about the Z-28. So I could go any which way on this.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Buy the SS and put a supercharger on it and have more power than the Z28.

Get a Z28. It'll be awesome and have gobs of power. But you'll still have a warranty.
