Impact of Japan EQ on Camaro Production?

I'm sure there must be some Japanese electronics in our cars. Just wondering if production shutdowns in Japan will affect Camaro production or spares availability.

I wasn't aware of any Japanese parts on the Camaro, although I'm fairly certain even if there were, then GM could easily get them from somewhere else if needed. Just because Japan has an earthquake near it (which is still very sad and tragic) does not mean that the entire production of an American car(s) will be halted.

The V6 uses an Aisin 6-speed manual transmission. Aisin has Japanese roots. I'm not sure where the unit is actually built, but I do know the basic design is shared in a couple of different Toyotas, and to no surprise, also in certain Holden models.

So, this could definitely have an impact on production if any of the factories or shipping methods have been interrupted by the quakes.

Doubtful.

Most of the places that were hit in Japan were more rural and farmland.

Aisin used to be a conglameration with Borg-Warner, but the last I heard they split up. The Aisin 6-speed manual transmission is their bastard child.

I would say Japan along with the rest of the world have much bigger problems to worry about right now.

All their stuff is probably made in China, too.

The Harley I ride has OEM Japanese shocks. Wonder if HD will also stop production? Lot's of "American" vehicles come with Japanese or Chinese parts. If they had exclusive parts of USA origin, we would be paying $75,000 for a 1SS.
