21" wheel and tires
Hey all, Just started checking prices and starting to get serious about the new Camaro. I was looking at the 21" wheel and tire package, but it is an additional $4600-$4800. Is this correct? Lets just say that the stock 20" wheels and tires are $2000. If you upgrade to the 21" wheels you don't get the 20" wheels and tires, so the 21" wheels and tires cost somewhere around $6400-$6800 to produce?!?! I understand marking up options, but come on!! I can't believe GM in a time like this, they are either incapable of making the 21's for a decent price, or they are just out to gouge customers. It is making me look twice at the car as a whole, and I am going to really look closely at every option to see if any of it is worth the money. I don't want a stripped/basic Camaro, but if this is the standard cost mark-up I might be forced to not get any options, or not get the car at all. Not happy.

It's roughly $4680.00 for the 21" wheels.
It's really not that outrageous for what they are. I don't know how in the hell you came up with 6400-6800 to produce them though. |

He's saying that if you give a figure of roughly $2k for the stock 20s, then the 21s cost £$6.5k (the two figures together) as you get nothing back from "trading" the 20s in... or he's saying something else entirely.

Yea, that is what I am talking about. I am asking how $4600-$4800 hundred dollars is the difference in production cost between the normal 20in. and the 21in. Now, I did guess the cost of the 20" at around $2000, so that might be off. But, if that is close you have to say that the cost to produce the 21"s is is $6600-$6800 (ish). If these are being made by another outside company and GM is charging 20% or so mark-up to make some money I might be able able to understand. But check out a web site that sells wheels and tires, and you will see the difference between 20" package and 21" package is nowhere near GM's price. If anyone can explain better than me feel free.

Indeed - get the 20s, buy some 21s/22s (or whatever it is that does it for you) and then sell the 20s on. I'd like the concept setup if possible

Basically, you'll need to take the $4600-4800 price tag and subtract what you think you can get for the 20s to get the true cost of the upgrade. (I may be wrong on this but from the last of the information I read this is how it is) |

you get to keep your 20" wheels too. why cant anyone under stand the way things work when you buy something that replaces something else? you get to keep both of them because your buying them. its not a core exchange.

You might want to check into that further - I don't think you get to keep the 20's with the 21" dealer installed option - but I might be wrong. There are other threads that talk about this.

why would you not getto keep the wheels. what are they going to bring the car on donuts and then put the 21's on? this is a rediculous conversation. paying 4,000+ dollars gets you the 21's buying the car in general gets you ,whatever model you order's, wheels.

I guess you must know - good luck with it and I hope you are right. But I would call your dealership and hear it first hand before you think you are driving your camaro off the lot with 4 extra wheels in the trunk
I know when I bought my SSR and upgraded to the 20" polished wheels for $1200 I didn't get to keep the factory painted wheels. Maybe it is different with this LPO. BTW they sent the other wheels back to GM when I asked about it. The dealer doesn't get to keep them either. The cost was figured with the other wheels returned. Heres more......... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8469 Call your dealer...I did
