Ummm, we know what they've told us in the past. Things change.

If you listen to him, you'll hear him say "this is the first time we've used this technology at GM" - and this highlights the problem.

Its not that the system doesn't exist or isn't installed on the test cars, its that they are having trouble getting it to work correctly.

Is anyone here concerned that they are having trouble making LEDs light up?

There's a 200 or so post thread active right now that answers that question.

No. The latest word is that they're working on it and they'll make it final whether it's included not closer to production.

Yeah this does concern me as well since by now they should have figured out the best way to implement the LED's. There could be a few reasons why no test vehicle has them installed. They might not be completed, they might be having some trouble with them, the company selling the parts might be having some quality control issues or has gone under so GM is trying to find a new vendor for LED's and tubing or both..One thing is for certain, if it does get taken out, then the price of the 2SS and 2LT trim should go down.. I for one am ordering a 1SS so to me the lighting is not that important. But I do know how cool it would look since I've seen the video rendering with the HUD and interior lighting combined.. Sadly no HUD so no 2SS for me..

No it's not...

The current CTS has ambient lighting...the Orlando concept has both interior and exterior ambient lighting...the 2010 Equinox has ambient lighting...it's definitely not the first time GM's used this technology.

Ambient Lighting is not new, but this is not ambient lighting in the usual sense. Its a fiber optic light pipe. This isn't just LED's behind a screen like the ambient lighting in the CTS. These are two completely different monsters, and if you knew anything about engineering, you would understand that.

First press release - Could spell trouble for GM if no ABL

nasser71 is so right. That video is of the first press release for the 2010 camaro. Get that. Press Release......

The press will not go easy on GM if they cannot deliver EVERY car (including the very first ones we ordered) according to that press release. GM does not need any more negative press.

Having said that, I am pretty sure they will get it fixed. They can't delete it and they can't deliver cars without it. They alread told the press how beautiful the "soft glow" lights up the cabin.

Like the ABL or not, if GM fails on the smallest of details they will struggle long term.

that's why they're busting their butts trying to get it fixed now. the reason they haven't said anything is most likely because they ain't done fixing it yet, and they don't to fuel the "they're not gonna have it" fire. i'm pretty sure GM knows how concerned people are about it and they want to make sure it's done right and bug-free before releasing it. just keep the faith!

Yeah, I have to agree, Zebra, they may not be responding, but they're listening....you'd better believe it!
