How come nobody has made a coilover comparison test so far?

I have tested a good number of kits on our car and have yet to test a few more. We havent tested the Eibachs ,Pfadt or H&R

There isnt much feedback on here regarding the KW V3, Eibachs 3 kits and H&R kits. Why?

All we have are opinions on the Pedders and Pfadt which is great but id like to hear more about these other kits.

I know the BC Racing, Megan Racing and other kits in the lower price range are most likely the same across the board.

if would be great to have someone make a complete comparison test for everyone to review based on quality, installation ease, adjustment ease, adjustment options, spring options and of course street and track testing broken down by price as well.

Well I have tested H&R's and pedders. The H&R's ride pretty good on NYC streets and highways a rougher than stock on the city streets about the same on the highway. Drop is ok but not what I was looking for, need more.

Pedders on the other hand depending on your settings very close to stock on city streets but major upgrade on the highway better handling, steering response, less body roll and soft as hell no bouncing. I have it set at 12 front and 9 rear. Great for daily driving.

As for BC racing I have a set on my 05 G35X sedan they handle great but not for a daily driver. There is a guy with Kw V3's around the neighborhood drivings pretty good. I never really tested it.

What parameters are you suppose to use? They will all drop your car as low as you want to go. After that, you're looking at ride quality and there is no definitive test for that. You'd be at the mercy of the one doing the testing for their OPINION. Personally, I don't think it's testable. Pick the one you like and fits your budget.

Here is what I feel should be compared.

Budget yes but most fall in between $1500 and $2500, only two fall around $1000 mark

Not concerned with lowering adjustments because they are all in the same range.

I am concerned with adjustments of compression, rebound and how accurate these settings are and the range. No vendor list these technical specs so it has to be driven and tested.

Also spring rates also are not given for the most part on lots of kits, granted some are inter changeable but the shock bodies internals are preset and can not be altered further from how they arrive.

The Camaro has a bad tendency to bounce in the rear and we tested this with several kits. One of our techs and pro drivers feels all the stuff we tested just doesn't have enough rebound in the rear.

We are running Koni Spec shocks now but they ride very harsh and are looking to move on to something else.

its an expensive test to say the least but I am surprised we don't hear more feedback on these other brands I mentioned above. I am also surprised competing vendors on here haven't done this to post up as a marketing tactic.

I think it's just too hard to test, especially at the street car level. But I think I will go penske when the time comes.

We are testing Eibachs r1 and r2 next week and we might put together a comparison for everyone. I like the Eibach rear design how the shock is inverted and the adjustments are so easy. The Kw V3 are an awesome set up but even a simple height adjustment is a bitch with their design. we have installed many and everyone loved the way we set theirs up and never needed further tuning. They should have used the inverted design like Eibach.

Id like to learn more on the Penske ones as well but from what I saw posted $5k a set isnt going to be for most guys pockets these days.

i think its very hard to do a test like this as everyones driving conditions change, im a city guy have my shop in bklyn but live in long island i cross multiple road surfaces with varying conditions compared to some who is in the country who has different roads vs someone who lives in jersey where they pave the roads all the time

true but we spent the last year with every system fine tuning and felt their shock bodies adjustments were sub par to get a nice balance or springs too stiff for the combination. its obvious lots of systems on the market are generic and are not tested like others. There are shortcomings of every system in some way. Just because it fits and the application guide shows our cars on there doesn't mean they spent $$$$$$$$$$ developing them properly like the better suppliers have. A G8 may share alot with the Camaro or even a GT0but they are different cars completely.

In a week or so when I have time we might compile a nice review of everything so far and break it down for everyone. Seems most reviews on here are biased on two brands and people need to hear others on different choices. Isn't is obvious that nobody from KW, Eibach or H&R support the forums directly by having an engineer or tech guru fill us in? they honestly don't need to for good reason. They have their own market share already. This is why we dont have a good subjective test.

We don't need any more threads basing Facts on why brand A is better than B in an attempt for soliciting consumers on forums. Honest user reviews whether street or track tested is all we really need.

I will not mention brands in any effort to affect any vendors or manufactures being in the same business.

Contact Pete from pedders I am sure he can supply all the desired info on dampening and rebound you are looking for.
