Driver's side PCV

Ok... we have a couple threads going on in here about catch cans... well, rather than finding them and posting in those (i take lazy to a whole new level) I thought I would just post here...

So with all this talk about catch cans I pulled off the Injen to look inside...

Here's the inside of the elbow:

Nice puddle on the TB...

I just checked mine, same friggin thing. I already ordered the catch can last week because I kept finding a wet spot under the fitting going into the injen, we'll see if it helps.

Thing is the ones here seem to be designed for the passenger side... There were some questions as to whether the drivers side needed one.. and there was some reference to the driver's side being the "clean" side (what ever that means? )

I wish I knew more about the evac system, hopefully this will take care of it as claimed. There was oil in my stock airbox and TB when I changed it.

In theory, I believe the one on the pass side goes into the intake which is supposed to be pulling from that side of the crankcase. That SHOULD make the drivers side an "intake" for lack of a better term. There should be a slight vacuum present. I wonder if any of the hardware on the drivers side hose is a valve? If so, maybe it's backwards?

Cool

We all went through this before in another thread. And it seem to be a consensus that, 1. the passenger side valve cover, hose from the rear of it ti the top of the intake manifold is the pcv ( or is it pvc) hose.
2. the drivers side valve cover, hose from the rear of it to the cai is the clean air intake to the engine. Remember this is the V6 engine I am writing about not the V8. Any one else? I took the cai off of the throttle body, no oil in the cai or throttle body. Took the hose off the top of the in take manifold that comes from the passenger side valve cover rear, there was oil in it. Which makes me believe this is the pcv/pvc valve vacuum.

I am putting a catch can in mine in the spring. It is about time to put it away for the winter for me.

Well I think Mike Norris (who put out the catch can) needs to see this...maybe it should be posted in the other forum...but hopefully he catches this instead.

So I was going to order the catch can, but now I'm confused. Someone needs to figure this out! lol

Looks pretty obvious the LLT is sucking in oil big time. Could it be possible that two catch cans are needed? Is that ever the case? I would hate to hear that we have to buy two of these darn things (cuz I'd really like to save up for other things!! lol) but I don't want oil building up over time and hurting my engine performance either.

With clean sides like that, who needs dirty sides?

If we need to put one on the clean side, it would have to be a can with a breather, this just doesn't seem right. Maybe this is more an issue with using the injen, it's
"sucking" the oil through the tube perhaps. I know when I accelerate moderate to heavy, you can hear the air being drawn in......

I may try to block off that port in the injen and put a breather on the end of the clean side hose.

I checked mine at approx 8,000 miles when I put on a CAI intake and no oil in the intake side but oil inside the intake itself. Put on a catch can last week and checked CAI tube and no oil in intake side. Dry.
