I'm a bonehead

Sooooo...I had the Vararam intake and the extension bolts fell out on the road, so the next set I threw on some loc-tite. Well...I got my new unit and now I can't get the new bolts in because of all the loc tite still in there. What do I do? Can I throw some heat at it (without worrying about the paint)? It seems like a M6x1 thread chaser isn't going to be very easy to find. All help is greatly appreciated. I hope I'm not horribly in the wrong thread, but this is the main one I read, so

Did you use loctite blue or red? Heat usually works unless it's the high strength red.

Could always run a tap set throught it, or a wire brush on a drill to clean it out.

Can you get a saw blade to the old bolts?

+1

Run a tap then use an air nozzle to blow out the residue. I do this everyday
at work with 5/16-18 bolts and we use red 271 loctite.

I used blue. Am I going to need an actual heat gun? Oh well, I love buying new tools. Thanks for all the ideas.

Old hair dryer will work. Of course a heat gun is also cool or should I say hot.

Good luck.

Hmm very strange I use the blue loctite all the time and have no problems getting bolts back apart..now the red is another story. That stuff i have had to take a propane torch to a bolt to get them out.

Getting it out wasn't a problem, it's getting a new one in that's the issue.

Like others have said, just use a tap to clean the threads and blow the hole out with compressed air.

Just give it a little tap. Tap, tap tap-a-roo.
