What fuse to hardwire to for radar detector?

I just hardwired my radar detector into the internal fuse box in my car, I was going to link it to my radio but I couldn't find out where it was (according to the owners manual). So I hardwired it into the AC unit, thinking my radar wouldn't come on until I turn the car on, however even when the car is off the radar will stay on. Anyone that has done this, what fuse did you hardwire into?

I wired mine into the passenger airbag light up by the rearview mirror. There is a DIY around here somewhere for it. Pretty neat actually. My V1 turns on when the car is on and off when the car is off, as in I need to start the engine to turn it on

Well I already have it wiried to the internal fuse box, so I don't want to have to rewire it to the light. I'm just trying to figure out which fuse I can hardwire it to where it will turn off when the car gets turned off.

Hmmm could use the ignition wire. That way it cuts off when the car does. Just a thought.

Wow, you guys did it the hard way man. All you had to do was buy a 10 dollar cord off of ebay and wire it into your mirror.

I used this and tapped into the accessory adapter fuse.
You can get them from any auto parts store. Works like a champ shuts on and off for the car.
