Motortrend COTY Vs Limbaugh: ZING!

http://blogs.motortrend.com/rush-judgment-5957.html

Especially that last line. We all know the subject of this article has done and said many questionable things.. but go Motor Trend and the Volt!

My lungs still hurt..

Why people who don't know what they're talking about should just shut the hell up.

Does anyone actually care what Rush has to say about cars?

If that happened, most forums would die ... not to mention the comment section on other websites.

I hesitate to say this because this thread is a good one and I don't want it to be politicized, but Motor Trend nailed it. Rush Limbaugh can go fly a kite. The Volt is a good car, it's techonologies will be lauded in 10 years when gas is running $7-10 a gallon. I worry less about global warming and more about our reliance on the oil coming from conflict ridden and suspect mid-east opec countries. That reason alone is reason enough for any person to appreciate fuel efficient vehicles....but I still love my SS.

"Blah blah blah" STFU Motortrend. I happen to agree with Rush that to name a car that isnt even on sale the "Car of the Year" is beyond stupid.

Its a stupid, poorly written and completely unprofessional hunk of shit, and anyone who defends it is equally stupid, bar none. The writer instead of being calm and refuting Limbaugh's claims, resorted to petty, childish jabs about Rush's personal life instead of arguing the facts.

Additionally the mouth breathing retard who wrote it doesnt even bother to seek out information. Such as the fact that Rush was given a test Malibu and *loved* it.

You're a moron, Todd Lassa, and so is anyone who agrees with your petty attacks and attempts at "disproving" Limbaugh.

Oh and a great deal of congrats to GM for finally figuring out how to mate a motor to a battery pack. Submarines beat it to the punch about 100 years ago.

Moron here, I happened to agree with MT, felt is was a well articulated argument against ignorance.

It isnt. What it is however is a badly written and dotted with ad hominem attacks.

It would likely have difficulty making it past a 1st year college writing class.

Rush Limbaugh is known for his quiet, calm, reasonable dissection of the pure facts of the issue at hand, right? He never resorts to petty rhetoric or childish antics to dismiss the argument of those opposed to his own view. And the notion that anyone might use such tricks against him must is appalling.

Anyway, I suppose I'm a moron.

The article was obviously not a feature article for Motor Trend but rather a satirical retort to the comments made by Limbaugh. In fact, when I read it it came off as though it were coming straight from Jon Stewart. As for being stupid and poorly written ... it takes more knowledge and skill to write a good piece of satire than pretty much any other type of piece.

Here are Limbaugh's own words from the show titled Lunatic Left Will Never Be Happy

How in the world do they have any credibility? Not one has been sold. The Volt is the car of the year.
I left out his comments about leftists and unions.

Here is their selection criteria for COTY:
ADVANCEMENT IN DESIGN
Quality execution of exterior and interior styling; innovation in vehicle packaging; good selection and use of materials.

ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE
Integrity of total vehicle concept and execution, clever solutions to packaging, manufacturing and dynamics issues; use of cost-effective technologies that benefit the consumer.

EFFICIENCY
Low energy consumption and carbon footprint, relative to the vehicle's competitive set.

SAFETY
Primary safety -- the vehicle's ability to help the driver avoid a crash -- as well as secondary safety measures that protect its occupants from harm during a crash.

VALUE
Price and equipment levels measured against those of vehicles in the same market segment.

INTENDED FUNCTION
How well the vehicle does the job its designers and product planners intended.

Now, to be eligible they have to be new or significantly revised for the upcoming model year NOT the preceding year. Perhaps thats where he got confused, thinking it was some sort of year end review. So, based on those criteria I can't think of a single car out there that could possibly be a contender against the Volt because of its engineering excellence, efficiency, and performance of intended function.

Fixed. The level of public discourse in the United States is so low at the moment, it's just painful.

I'd say they do. He has an audience of millions, he is the highest paid radio personality ($50 million/year), and he didn't need a bailout.
