MSD boost a pump
Hello everyone,
I am considering adding a boost a pump to my car as im getting close to the limits of my stock fuel pump. So far all instructions ive read require cutting the power wire of the fuel pump and feeding it through the boost a pump. Does anyone out there offer a harness that will keep all factory wiring intact? I am an electrical engineer and cutting wires, soldering, using heat shrink (the company i work for makes heat shrink tubing), etc. doesnt bother me, but one thing i try not to do is mess with any factory wiring. I like the idea that if i want to take some aftermarket part out of a car, i can bring it back to factory, with no one ever knowing a part was there. I have not done this install before, so im not sure if a harness is possible or not. So basically i am asking, is a harness possible with factory connectors, and if so does anyone make it. |

I guess, i will probably have to cut the wire. Now for my next set of questions lol.
1. Where did you mount your boost a pump? 2. Were you able to mount it without drilling any holes anywhere in the body 3. How did you route the vacuum line back to the brake booster/engine bay. Thanks. |

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product.php?p=172 Vortech's voltage booster is the MSD voltage booster, but they include the whole wiring harness, they have already programmed the unit and it is ready to go in the Camaro. Best of all, it is the same price that MSD is selling them for. I got mine in 3 days. And mounted it in the battery well just in front of the battery. They put in about 10 ft more wire and loom than you will actually need. You don't use the vacuum line on our cars.

Yea, but that is not installed in the right place i believe. Like the KB BAP it needs to be installed after the pump and before the FPCM for best results. Your not getting full potential at that location. If you need more flow from your pump then u need to install it after the pump, but you need a boost activation switch to mount it there so it wont blow a fuse. I don't have one installed, but i been doing a lot of research and thats where i read it needs to be installed. |

I have seen a bunch of threads that go back and forth, back and forth between before the FPCM and after FPCM. Which one is it?
I hear after the FPCM is possible, but it causes a lot more issues. |

The Whipple kit comes with a nice harness with the vac line routed with it, a slick mounting bracket for mounting it to the rear of the battery. It plugs in to the fuse that powers the FPCM and is also preprogramed to the appropriate settings. It made a substantial difference on my car in its current stock but blown configuration.
