Blonde Moment

OK, I am not sure what happened but, someone sent me a PM and somehow while setting up to reply, I accidently deleted it.
Not sure if it is because I am blonde or up and at my lunch break at just before 5 in the morning.

Part of the message was about a FRC Vette. Ring any bells for anyone?

I do remember part of the message so, I will give out some info here.

I traded my 2000 fixed roof coupe in a whille back for 2 reasons. First and most important was because I have some messed up pain problem that the docs can't find a reason for. With that sometimes it gets so bad that I can't use one or the other hand to hold or even touch ANYTHING. Any pressure is almost torture. With my 2000 being a stickshift, I can't shift when that happens.
The other problem has to do with the FRC itself. OK, for everyone who has a FRC Vette, this is something to watch out for closely. They have a trim piece that runs alongside the windshield and then over the door. This is a one piece item that is almost impossible to find a replacement for. And both driver's and passenger's sides on my had taken some damage when the windshield had been replaced (before I bought it). Since I bought it when the weather was nice and it stayed nice for a while, I didn't find out about it for a while. How I found out was after I had washed the car a few times. I first figured that I didn't get the windows all the way up.
Then, after I realized it had a leak over the doors, I took off the weatherstriping and found the damage. Both sides were cracked and broken. I took the trim pieces off and discovered that whoever had replaced the windshield had overtorqued the screw and stripped out the holes. Since the holes are directly in the composite material of the body, fixing them would require professional work. I did a search for the trim pieces but could only find one for the driver's side, and that was because no one wanted it since it was scratched. A dealer in CA gave it to me for free. I found out that people have been searching for those pieces for over 3 years.

So, I gave up and let my FRC go. My daugher actually cried when we left to go trade it in (we didn't tell her what we were getting). How's that for a Vette fanatic? She was happy though, when we brought back the 02 Convertible. I wound up making an excellent deal. My payments are the same now as they were before.

So, to anyone and everyone who has a FRC Vette, be it a normal Vette or a Z06); be VERY careful of those trim pieces and if you have the windshield replaced, tell the people doing it to be extremely careful.

I still LOVE the looks of the FRC. The appearance is almost the same as a convertible with the top up and I prefer that appearance to the standard C5 Vette.

If the person who sent me that message see this, please, accept my apologies. And if you want to talk more in private, send me another message. I'll be sure to NOT delete it.

Has anyone seen my sanity? I am hiding from it and don't want it sneaking up on me!
