Narrowband A/F
Had a quick question...When i had my S/C installed the shop that put it in did not install my Narrow band A/F gauge. They said im better off with the Wide-band because the narrow might mess up the ECU. Now I know for A/F readings the Wideband is the way to go, but by installing the Narrow will it mess with the ECU or any other electronics at all on the car?

Did you ever find out any more info on the Narrowband A/F?
From what I can gather, the Widebands are a lot more accurate (and $$$) than a Narrowband...but since a Narrowband is just reading the voltage from the O2 sensor, I am interested to hear how it could mess with the ECU. |

Narrow bands are NOT an accurate way of measuring WOT A/F, ever. You can get things "close" viewing the narrowband readings, but not perfect.
A wideband is required here. |

The narrow bands are just good for a light show get yourself a wide band and call it a day.
Installing a narrow band however will not harm or screw with the ECU in any way.

the factory o2 sensor's are only accurate at around 14.7 : 1 air fuel ratio,, they are just used for closed loop a/f operation.
when open loop(cold start) and power enrichment (WOT) , they are not used by the ecm because they cant measure any other a/f ratio accurate.
