Texas Speed Quickest NA 5th Gen Camaro!

We put together our 2010 Camaro "L99 test mule" that we nicknamed G-string (has a strange add-on velour headliner) with a prototype LS7 small-bore heads/cam setup. We went to San Antonio Raceway two weeks ago, even though the air was not so great at about 2000ft DA it's still much better than Lubbock's air and tracks.

We started with this heads/cam/converter swap Wednesday afternoon, finished it Friday morning, tuned it, and left just in time to make it to SAR at 9pm. First pass was a high 11.6 @ 117mph (left torque management on...), 2nd pass was a 11.42 @ 117mph and that is when we thought we had a chance of beating the fastest all-motor ET here on Camaro5. (427ci 11.23 @ 125mph)

The next pass out we changed a few things in the tune with shift points and converter lockup to be rewarded with an 11.20 @ 120mph, enough to take down the previous #1 spot on Camaro5 and we're still using the stock 6.2L L99 shortblock!

Final pass with some more ECM tweaking netted a 11.17 @ 121.9mph. Needless to say we are very satisfied with the new parts. About the only thing we were not happy with were the 60' times, which were low 1.6x, should be able to get a 1.5x out of it with suspension upgrades though.

The run down on the Camaro is as follows:

* 2010 Camaro SS L99 A6 (raceweight prob about 3850 to 3900+)
* 6.2L 100% stock shortblock
* TSP/PRC LS7 6-bolt small-bore heads (final prototypes for future release)
* LS7 Rocker arms (for the LS7-derived heads)
* TSP VVT Camshaft 23x/24x
* TSP 1 7/8" Longtubes / Induction
* Yank 4000 Stall Converter
* Stock A6 Transmission
* Stock Gearing
* 100% Stock Suspension, nothing at all aftermarket
* Weld 17" Drag Wheels
* Hoosier Slicks

For reference, the Camaro5 timeslip database is here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21013
Scroll down to "Internal Engine Mods"

We still need a few more passes and suspension components to get the car streamlined better, but overall I think we had a good 1st showing. We are bringing this car to Camaro Fest incase anyone wants to swing by and check it out!

Here's a video of the pass. I will post the timeslip in a bit!

Awesome, car sounds wicked too! I bet you have 10s in for sure. What kind of power does it put down to the wheels?

What are the suspension upgrades?

That's what I'm going to work on next and I'm curious of what you've done so far and/or plan to do in the future.

What are the dyno numbers on this set up ???

Can the heads use a LS3 intake, or will it have to be LS7 intake ?? will the stock LS3 just bolt right up to the intake.

When are these going on sale ?? or expected to to go on sale ???

What is the possible cost of heads and rockers ??

I want to do at H/C/I, basically a full bolt on car, then later add gas to it. Wonder how much you would gain by milling the heads on a set up like this ?? I am either going to go vortech or wait, but I have no patients LOL

Kind of what I have been thinking. Which is why I was thinking full bolt on and for the ones that beat me, run them again and just juice it and go around them.
