Bugs everywhere

So I bought my yellow camaro in Oct 2012, really liking the color, drove it for a few months then put the cover on her until mid March. I finally get to take her out and I drive her as much as i can, as this winter lasted forever in NY!
On a daily basis when i take her out I don't put the cover on during the day as i work nights. Now as spring has finally arrived and nature proceeds to take its course with plants and bugs sprouting I have noticed an extraordinary amount of bugs on my car. I have to actually swipe at them to get them off and wait to open the door or they'll fly into the car. It's like a swarm of gnats, winged ant type bugs, and some yellow jacks flying and sitting on the car.
It has to be the color. I have a silver Odyssey now parked right next to the camaro and there's maybe 2 or 3 lost bugs on it probably only because they can't find the camaro or they have bad internal navigation. I've had a green car, gray, maroon, beige, brown, never happened with any of those colors.
Yesterday I took a spin and when i got to the store a few miles away some of those bugs just wouldn't go away, they hung on like an ex-girlfriend.
I've heard people say certain colors attract bugs but I never believed it, well now I do. Certain colors definitely attract bugs!
I guess the cover must go on every morning.

I noticed the same with my car.
Now it all makes sense.

Bugs are so attracted to my car that they get stuck to it even when I'm washing it!

I, too, used to think it was just urban legend that bugs are attracted to yellow cars. However, out of the 50 or so cars I have owned, only two have been yellow... those two, and ONLY those two, regularly have bugs hanging out on them. Maybe the bugs are just rying to look cool, but they don't look so cool after I banish them, often in a little misty spray of bug guts. Generally bees, a few wasps... and a smaller assortment of 'skeeters, flies, moths, whatever.

I have a yellow Super Charged Monte Carlo and I told myself never again would I ever buy another yellow car. I ALWAYS had some type of bee or insect on my car. Drive thru's were the worst. I'd be ordering food and out of no where I have a couple of bee's flying around and I have to roll up the windows while ordering before they fly in my car :-/ I dont know if the wanted to mate with my car or wanted me to order them a burger. It just get frustrating. Never again.

For us in the states where Lovebugs are at, keep the dead ones washed off of the paint on your vehicle regularly! Their dead bodies are acidic.

From your avatar it looks like it attracts chickens. Mine has bugs on it all the time here in Washington. They just seem to love the yellow.

I do NOT miss the lovebug swarms of Houston! Holy freakin' smokes! I still haven't decided if I miss the odd glowing goo of fireflies in Kansas, though... (For those of you do not know: Indeed, firefly goo continues to glow for a few minutes after becoming a smudge across your windshield...)!

Some bugs such as bees are attracted to yellow as the center of many flowers are yellow.

You can test what bugs like. Grab like 4 lamps and put in different color bulbs and see the amount of bugs that swarm to certain colors more often.
