Anyone add AMP and upgrade speakers to non-BA system??

Just looking for feedback or lessons learned and any wiring location info.
Thinking of running speaker wire from head unit to 2 AMP's
1 for door and back speakers and 1 for subs.. (I'm guessing there's no line output from the head unit)
from the amps run new speaker wire to the door and back.
Replace speakers. And while everything is torn apart Dynomat the back and doors.

go on jl website you would need a cleansweep if you didn't want to want replace the factory radio then you would depending on what speakers you go with would not even use any of the factory wiring just mount your amps and run speaker wires to the doors from the cleansweep. All you would have to do is find out the color of the speaker wires when you replace them and run them into the cleansweep.

Depending on how anal you are about your sound you can just get a 4 channel amp with speaker level inputs and run your HU directly into the amp.

Thats my plan for right now, I picked up an Alpine 4 channel amp and a pair of 6.5" components (just came from UPS today). For absolute perfect sound, you'd need to get a JL CleanSweep to flatten the signal and then run that through an EQ and an amp. I may get into that eventually, or I was also looking at the AudioControl EQS to go inbetween the HU and the amp.

I'll post up if I run into any major snags while I'm installing.

Also, I've had subs hooked up since I bought the car. Just ran a LOC from the rear speakers and into my old 2 channel amp. Really helped the stock system, but it needs replaced if you want it to really sound decent.

hate to say it, but there are a TON of installs of guys doing exactly what you are asking about in this forum, your best bet is to just start reading and looking at what other folks have done, that will get you the best idea of where to start.

Then, take a look at the products Steve @ ******** is offering for us (Camaro 5) as a forum sponsor... the stuff he is selling is top notch and is infinitely more affordable than the same thing from JL audio (no offense to JL, they make good stuff, ******** is just WAY cheaper for enclosures/packages and of equal or better quality, and a forum sponsor).

I believe it is glass and at a price tag, on sale from their site of $1199.95 for the carpet match one, I am not looking up the paint one.

Edited to add it appears the enclosure comes with the following installed already if I am reading the discription correctly: Contains three 10W3v3-8 in a sealed enclosure. 1500 watt power handling.

Cheers
K
