2010 Camaro V6 vs 95 Trans am
My friends got a 95 Trans am and he says he will beat me with no problem. He has about 110,000 miles with no mods, automatic. My V6 is a manual with an Injen short ram intake. I know I can't blow the launch to have a chance. Think I can beat him?

That TA will run 14.0 to 14.2 stock, maybe a little better, maybe a little worse. I think he will get you by a little bit. If you get a good launch and nail your shifts, you might beat him. I think it would be a really good race.

Good match up for sure. If you want to cheat run on 1/5 tank of gas and take out the spare tire + jack

I have a 2LT 6MT as well. I beat my brother's 2SS 6AT. Got a great launch on him and nailed the 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd shifts. That's all you'll use in the 1/4. He caught me in the end but I still crossed the finish line before him.
We did swap cars and I kicked his butt hard driving the SS. I think at the very least it will be a very close race with him edging you. I really think u"ll have to have a very good run vs him having an average run to have a chance. I did play a little cat and mouse with a 5.3 GTO last year and kept up with him just fine. We both stopped at the next truck stop to get gas. He seemed a little dissappointed when he discovered he'd only been messin with a stock V6.

RTCAT600MAN has run 13.7 with similar mods (auto I think). With a good launch it should be close but you should edge him out. If he hasn't taken good care of his car you will easily take him.

It will all depend on how well the 95 TA is running. With 110K miles it's hard to know how well his car is really running. It could be a high 14 sec car.
If his 95 TA was brand new (or if its running like new), it should smoke a stock V6 Camaro pretty good. |

Will have to wait for this race until track opens or some closed off road. The TA was just worked on to pass emissions. Had it in shop for tune up. Did no good. Replaced thermostate and runs great now. Go figure.
Have to work on my launches for now. Sounds like if I drive well at least I might have a chance. |

Looks like the zero to sixty time are practically identical at 5.5s. with over 100,000 miles on an ls1 I'm guessing his engine is pretty tired. Id bet big assuming you dont miss a gear and drive half way right you will be able to take Him by at least half a car length.

Heat your tires up good. Lower the tire pressure in the rear to 30. Increase the front tire pressure to 40+ Use 93 Shell. Arrive with only a 1/4 tank of gas. Remove everything that you don't need in the car. Take the engine cover off. good luck. Personally I think it will all come down to the launch.
