Headers or Exhaust

Ok here is the issue i have $ 1000. to spend on the ACE steering wheel, and headers or exhaust. I will be doing a Axle back and not really sure of the headers meaning shorties or longtubes. I dont really know the difference so will have to get smart on that. then the next thing is i want the grumble and guys from my club say that the stock SS exhaust is ok and will sound good with the headers added so i am not sure what to go with. If any of you guys have done this or are smart on it PLEASE!!!! chime in. Thanks in advance!!!

Shorty's do not add power, and are fairly useless. The factory headers are very stout and not restrictive as others from the past have been.

LT's are the way to go if you can do it. Check your local smog laws to see if they are legal first, some crazy states like CA, suck azz.

I picked up 60+ rwhp/rwtq with LT's, CAI and a tune. It sounds like a monster. If you want to keep it quite, keep the factory mufflers. If you want a screaming monster, loose the factory cans and add a good set of LT's.

If you're looking solely for more power, shorties aren't going to do much for gain. The issue with long tubes is that you will need a tune to ignore the CEL codes you will get. Arguably, in most cases, tune=loss of drive train warranty. You will probably get the best bang for your buck by going with high flow cats and a muffler delete.

I don't know what the Camaro5 community thinks about Two Guys Garage, but here's a video clip you may find to be informative.

Good luck.

you can install LT's and High Flow cats and it does sound good with stock exhaust. This first clip is stock exhaust and mufflers with LT headers.

This clip is Stock exhaust with muffler delete and LT Headers.

Decide if you want to keep your warranty. That answer will guide you.

Long tubes = CEL = tune to correct = no warranty.

How do you like your LTs with borla catback? Got the Borla S type catback, just waiting on the Lts. Been curious about the in cabin sound and volume increase..
