Unfortunately, I think that price would be a tad higher.

In a word -- "no". There would not be a market for a totally stripped down V8 Camaro as you describe. For people who need a lower price option, the V6 Camaro is an excellent option, and with over 300HP, is still very desireable.
99% of new car buyers are not buying the car just to strip it to a shell and go racing. Also, removing AC is just not an option for most buyers, especially here in the southern half of the USA, unless they are buying a track-only toy. Additionally, replacing the items like power windows with manual windows is NOT cheaper... its more expensive. Since there are NO 5G Camaros produced without power windows, GM would have to design and produce brand new door panels, door seals and manual window mechanisms and produce them in very small numbers (small production runs are costly too). However, it would be my guess that the dry sump LS3 *will* make its way into the upcoming Z28, along with some lighter-weight components, real sport seats, big brakes/tires, and a cowl-induction hood, but it is NOT going to be a stripper/lower-cost option like the model you describe. Cheers, Kent |

Ok, maybe a limited run of COPO stripped Camaro's for racing, say 250 units. These cars would be worth gold in a few years. While consumer demand would be limited, I bet enthusiasts, racers and investors would snap these up.

This topic has been discussed here many times with Fbodfather stepping in an saying there is no chance in hell of it happening.
The cliff notes being its not worth the cost of things like developing new door frames and panels etc to delete power windows. Can't delete the radio as it runs many of the car's systems as well. In short its not worth the development expense for the 10 people who are going to buy it. They can do things like this in 10 years when the company is profitable 100% of the time, the loans are paid off and they have money to burn.

Why do we need a factory race car that would only see the track and nothing else? If the competition isn't doing this, GM won't do it.

You can get that car (though what good limiting paint and interior colors does is beyond me). Order a body in white and build it up just the way you want it.

I think he wants a car you can also drive on the street. BIW cars are not street legal, they have no VIN.
