Cost of adding a factory remote start?
I think I read it would be around 200 with one new remote, is that accurate?

I would think that it would be more than that. Does your fob have the button for it? If so, maybe it won't be that bad price wise. But no way $200 from GM.

went to the dealer today, my camaro didn't come equiped for a remote start from factory so I would have to get a kit that is more expensive, 163 vs 115. plus one new key cut, programming, labor etc. was rouhly 400-420 quoted. Might aswell go after market if I am paying that much and finance it and get the whole shebang for a couple hundred more, security and remote start together like the 5901 viper. guess it was worth checking in to.

I did the viper 5902, smart start, dball and l love it, plus the factory fob controls the 5902 so if you dont want to carry around another remote you can use the factory one, and use a smart phone for start and 2 way communication.

no matter what dont ever give up a key, ask them to use a bypass module. thats what is always included in the install it saves them money on using that by using ure key. ik that bc i used to do that

going for an install on the 28th(vacation week), they gave me a box that says flash logic(FLCAN),I googled it and it appears to be some kind of bypass module that can be used in a wide variety of cars. is this what I need to keep from surrendering my key? EDIT>>>found this on ebay describing the module, sounds like it will do the trick...."This unit requires the use of 1 working key to be programmed. You do not have to leave any keys inside the car for this to work like 555u/556u/tbk3 models. "

Does anyone know how much the dealer charges for the programming of the remote start?
And the part number for the precut key with the remote start.

Can you elaborate? Are you saying that remote start will work if you reprogram the bcm provided we get the remote start keys? Will these remote start keys be able to be programmed by us? I've read that to program another key, you insert your original key into the ignition, turn it on then turn off ......insert new key and do the same thing and then it's programmed...true or no?
