so first off im a long time reader of the site, gotta say im better educated than most dealers in Richmond VA. my question is this, I have a loan out on a truck now, my dad will being buying it from me in may. I want to order a 1LS camaro ( im sick but i love the steelies) from a local dealer who says the will give msrp to me... IF i do this am I GUARANTEED delivery after may 31? I do not care when after that date as I can be patient buuut I cant have it coming in before that date as I wont be rid of the truck yet. can anyone help me out?

Welcome to the site! I would say given the number of orders and the "constraint" on V6s, you shouldn't have a problem getting this car AFTER May 31st.

Yeah, I'd say it's the closest thing you can get, next to a guarantee, that you will not receive the car by May 31st. You're go to go!

while im asking, if i put down a 500 dollar deposit which is refundable does this "lock in" the initial price? i keep reading " sold preorder" and am wondering if that is what it means... thanks again

Yes, but I would ask your dealer for an email or paperwork that indicates what they are going to charge you. There was a note or two from GM that anyone pre-ordering before a certain date will get the introductory pricing, but that doesn't prevent a dealer from marking it up on you.

+1. get the pricing in writing, and do not pay more than MSRP. there are so many dealers who will sell for that, if not a little less

OK I'm going Thursday, with pricing not yet set do I get them to sign a paper that states "msrp minus any discounts at time of delivery"? having never pre ordered a car before I have lots of questions, also when would i receive the confirmation number on my order? thanks for all your help so far
