Took my Camaro to the shop for power steering issue?

I just dropped off my Camaro at the dealership for a power steering issue. I don’t know what is exactly wrong with it but in the last week the turning has been getting tighter, and you can hear/feel the power steering noise when turning at any normal speed. It is hard to describe this noise but for anyone who has ever encountered it, it is that noise (sounds like it is coming from the steering wheel/column).

I was wondering if anyone else has had something similar to this in their Camaro (mine is a 2012 2LS) and maybe could give me some insight before I find out through the dealer. I am hoping it’s a quick fix.

I will keep you all posted on the news when I get a call back

I had a similar issue shortly after I got my car. I had loud vibrations when ever I'd turn the wheel. Took her in an I was told that there was metal shavings in the power steering pump. Not sure how it happened, Hope you get it taken care of.

I had to replace my power steering pump about a month ago. I have over 85,000 miles on mine. It didn't make noise, but felt like there was air in the system (notchy when turning). I put a new pump on, bled the air out and works like a champ !!!

Well I got the car back and unfortunately they were unable to duplicate the issue. They checked the car out, test drove it, but nothing they saw was out of the usual. I know I am feeling it though it is subtle.

The write up girl told me I could bring it back when I have time and ride a long with the mechanic to pin point it to him. That is what I will probably do in a week or so.

Thanks for all your comments and stories of similar experiences. Hopefully this is taken care of soon. Thanks for your reply Brandon, I will be keeping you informed with new information as I get it!

My brothers 2011 camaro rs had that problem. They replaced steering rack, steering colum, intermediate shaft and the list goes on.Bottom line I got him a lawyer and sued Gm.He trade it in on an exact 2013 and 1500 miles and this one started same thing! Its poor quality.I doubt this one will be fixed either. The thing is Gm is know foe unlubricated Intermediate shafts.I think thats all that was wrong but the destroyed the car! This time its in the colum. It sounds like rubbing plastic.Dont bother with Gm customer service. They are a Joke.try 3 times and get a lawyer.Gm's motto is we fix nothing!
