Looking to improve steering feedback
I'm sure its been asked a million times, and I already think I have a pretty good idea of what to do.... But I wanted to get some input on how to make my car feel more... tight (i guess would be the word). I already have lowering springs, but when I'm tracking in a straight line, the car just feels floaty. I was thinking about getting sway bars anyway, so I was thinking about possibly replacing some bushings while I was at it. Not sure exactly what bushings to replace though. My E30 BMW had front control arm bushings and poly sway bar bushings. That was obviously a totally different car, but the steering was very precise and gave really good feedback. Any ideas? Maybe do the cradle inserts and the previously mentioned bushings?

There is a steering rack bushing. I put one on my car years ago. It's really firm compared to stock, stock is gummy. I forget who makes it, about $20.

What- no swaybars yet Mike?
Look at JPSSonline.com/shop and upgrade to a FE4 set-up and get their radius arm insert bushings as well. It will make you think you're back in your Bimmer! |

Sway bars are a great upgrade on these cars and will help cornering but won't improve steering feedback/response. A steering rack mount bushing, radius rod bushings, and front lower control arm bushings (only $150 for the whole set) is what I would recommend. That sharpens things up a lot and adds a little grip up front.

Sways were next on my list (as well as a hurst shifter and d/s rotors) but then a set of BBK long tube's landed in my lap and I couldnt say no. Thanks for the input Apex, I'll definately be looking for that bushing kit soon. How hard of an install is it? I remember when i replaced the LCA bushings on the BMW it was a PITA. Is the steering rack upgrade difficult?
