Something I read on HP tuners forum

On their forum somebody said how a small company like trifecta can come up with a tuner before a bigger company like HP tuning, and HP tuners reply is,

Not really, they are a similar pcm to ones they(we) already support, doing what he does is a good bit easier than what we do in that he can unlock 30-40 tables and be happy with the result(because usually thats about as many tables as anyone would change doing dyno tuning), if we released 40 tables people would want their money back lol. We also support upwards of 2000 operating systems as of right now, my money would be on about 100, give or take, that they support and even less that they've actually mapped out on their own. I think even vector may have released something for them, but again "something" doesn't mean tuning software it just means they offer tuning for them. Most of these guys are using either some open source software and doing some of the protocol legwork on their own or have their own proprietary software or a combination of the two.

Either way though its really apples to oranges for the most part.

What I dont understand is, isnt that all we really need to work with on a most tune that an avg tuner offer. Why would most of us need hundreds and hundreds of tables to tweak? if trifecta can already tweak mostly everything like how some peoples claim with their 30-40 tables and customers are happy than it make sense for HP tuner to offer their version of the same right? since they said that they already support.

How many tables do SCT and diablo currently have unlocked to tune the SS? Anybody know?

Here is a link to the topic on hp tuner forum on our ecm. Very interesting.

Guys,

I do suggest that we all subscribe in this thread and bombard HP with tune requests like we have done with Hypertec !

I am a little more interested in what they said about trifecta and the how little they have unlocked. It seems that from what I have learned the most important stuff is unlocked, but would love to hear from someone who really does understand the in and outs of tuning. As far as them making something I am not holding my breath. They didn't even respond like they were in the works. It sounded like they were explaining why it would take them LONGER (as far as number of tables), but never mentioned they were close or in the works.

The way hp tuners are making it sound like is that our e69 ecm is just a pain to work with overall. It look like they been trying to work with the ecm eversince 2007-2008.
That is a loooooong time for a tuner like HP to not have something and just ended up as "low priority" to them.
This type of info just take all the hope away of future tuners for our ecm but I guess anything is possible as long as the tuners decide to make it their "1st priority".

I wonder how hypertech is coming along

Maybe we all should sign up for hptuner forums and let them know that we dont belong in the "low priority" list.

Seems like I read that Trifecta has provided information on several ECUs to some of the bigger companies. He specializes in GM systems and does a lot more than just this one car (vettes, Cobolts, Cruzes, Caddies, etc...) so I think this guy at HP is just lumping him in a bucket with other's he's seen.

Maybe they're butthurt they weren't able to do what Vince has been able to do with our ecm and trying to defend it by cutting the guy that's doing something for us?

What I dont get is, if they are capable right now as they claim with 30-40 tables like trifecta than why would any of us ask for our money back if they put out a tuner for the v6?
I dont think anyone has asked for their money back from vince, and if anything I hear nothing but praises, but I gotta give it to trifecta the ONLY tuner who didnt put us on the backburner.

The fact that the pcm is so similar to ones they already support but they've come out with nothing is the part that tells me they're blowing smoke.
