Camaro vs Challenger pricing

I currently have an order in for a 2SS. However just for kicks the other day I was looking at the Dodge website to build a similarly equipped Challenger R/T under their employee pricing ++ promotion. Now I'm beginning to have second thoughts about my order given the pricing difference. Odds are, GM will exclude the Camaro from any sales during the first 6 months to a year at least. Personally, I like the styling of the Camaro better and know it will be a more technically advanced car. At the same time, I have driven the Challenger...it may not win in a race but it will still be a blast to drive and get plenty of looks (c'mon that's part of why we all buy these cars, too!) I'm just beginning to wonder if it justifies the extra thousands of dollars for the car and then the money I will spend on financing (vs getting 0% for 48 mo on the Challenger). Anyone have any opinions on what to do?

I love the Camaro and have been waiting a long time for it, but then Chrysler had to go ahead and screw everything up with their kick-@$$ promotion! What to do what to do...of course I don't know how much longer the promo lasts...maybe I should've looked into this weeks and weeks ago when it was first announced so I'd have more time to decide.

Live life without regret, and don't second-guess yourself. Always go with your first choice, because you know that's what will truly make you happy. If that doesn't work for you, then try to close your eyes, and imagine driving your new car. Whatever car that is... that's the one you should pick

It's easy, which do you want more? The Challenger has less power so of course it's cheaper, but if you want the Camaro I'd just wait. I was in a similar situation and decided I'd kick myself every time a Camaro drove by so I thought I'd wait it out.

I've waited too long for the Camaro to ever change my mind. Even with the promotions Dodge has going I feel like the Camaro is the better match for me and so I'm willing to have a higher payment for it. You gotta go with your gut. If paying less money for a Challenger is more important to you than getting a Camaro I say go for that R/T. They are both great cars. Just hope you don't have doubts when you see us out and about this summer in our Camaros

Here inside the mountain ranges of BC we are seeing dealers in towns of 15 to 20,000 residents with as many as 8 Challengers lined up on the ground for sale. These cars were ordered before the layoffs began. It is a buyers market now.

This is very true, except for '08 Challengers. I see those at the dealerships and they're STILL trying to get $50,000+.

I went and looked at Columbia Chrysler in Richmond as I was just about to pull the trigger on an R/T at the end of November and they still call me.

Try Williams Lake or Cranbrook. The interest is mounting fast when you have 8 covered in snow.

Depending on what GM raises the msrp to on the camaros after the pre sale, im really liking the srt8 challenger but am also thinking the SS. The 6.4 is planned for model year 2011 so we shall see. I just hope the camaro doesnt price itself out of the market. Its price is hard to beat right now.

With the Challenger, you pay by the pound for a boat that doesn't even come with a sail. With the Camaro, you're paying for world class performance at a clearance sale. You be the judge.

The Camaro all the way or atleast wait till the camaro comes out so you can actually test drive it and get a real feel for both cars unless its just about the price but dont have buyers remorse later if the challenger doesnt live up

If 48 months vs say, 72, puts you or anyone at a payment they can't afford, then 0% means nothing. I just posted in another thread where 6.9% was being complained about...

30k numbers:
...0%:
...48mo->$625

...3.9%
...72mo->$468

...4.9%
...72mo->$481

...5.9%
...72mo->$496

25k numbers:
...0%:
... 48mo->$520

...3.9%
...72mo->$390

...4.9%
...72mo->$401

...5.9%
...72mo->$413

In any case, what I'm trying to get at is 0% doesn't mean anything unless you can actually make the 48 month payment.

Actually I'm ok w the payment. I make decent $ and am good at saving it, too so even though its more than I should really be spending on a car...you only live once, right?

So I compared apples to apples...figured out 0 for 48 vs 48 at 5.59% (GMAC lowest rate), I would spend an extra $3500 in finance charges. Then an extra $2K on the car. All said that is a decent chunk of change. $5,500 less for the Challenger. Damn wish GM would have lowered the price instead of raising it!

I guess the one variable that is hard to account for though is if the Camaro will hold its value better than the Challenger (in part cause of this promo). If I go to sell the car in 5-6 yrs to trade for the latest model that may make up some of the $5,500 difference later on.

Well you first have to qualify and from what I hear, Chrysler's requirements are strict enough that most people will not qualify. Also according to the latest ads and according to some Dodge dealers, the Challenger no longer is part of the ad.
