1 piece driveshaft

I'm looking into buying the 1 piece driveshaft for my 2010 SS from the Drive shaft shop. Are there any downsides to installing a 1 piece driveshaft on our cars at all?

Mine is just as smooth as stock. One area to look out for is the area above the pinion. I have stock diff bushings and the drive shaft bolts hit when under load. I would grind the 1/8 in lip off the rear cradle above the pinion. Easy to do after the stock shaft is removed. When the rear adapter is installed with the bolts and nuts you will see just how close it is.

Other than the bolt issue which is now solved there are no downsides. You can definitely feel the difference in smoothness when the car is accelerating. You can see the dyno results on my car when I made the switch: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...t=45165&page=5

That's just what I was looking for doc. And I will have to make sure to go back through your entire thread and read. One more question is there more noise or drive train sounds than with the stock shaft?

You're welcome. Actually I found it to be quieter; less vibration noise through the shifter.

Thanks for sending the bolts, but after looking at it closer I decided to grind away the metal above the pinion. Very easy to do and I liked the extra insurance of having the nuts on the bolts. Your drive shaft is a nice piece.

I have the DSS 1 piece due to major movement of the two piece. The one piece feels stronger and no noticable noise or vibration.

I just returned from C5F II with Pumpkin, 4057 miles door to door. The one peice DSS driveshaft was flawless. I love it and don't have anymore stock driveshaft worries. Drove Pumpkin hard, no issues.

Frank, I just had Ted order me one. Think we can get it asap so he can install it on Friday? I'm going to the track on Friday and I have a funny feeling my stocker is not long for this world. Edit: Stocker # 2 that is.
