Which OEM wheel do you prefer?

I have recently purchased from another fine Camaro5.com member his old set of OEM wheels. He checked off the "polished" option on the order sheet when he ordered up his Camaro and I refrained as I had opted for the Rally Sport package that came with an RS-unique Midnight Silver wheel finish.

I drive my Camaro all year round, even in the hard Canadian winters so I need two full sets of wheels. Changing the tires on the same set of wheels all the time is just not good for the hardware and expensive long term. I also like the ability to change wheels myself should the need arise, but alas, I digress...

I want to know what you all would do, Midnight Silver on the winter wheels and Polished silver with the summer tires? It seems best (I think) that the Midnight Silvers' be on for the "darker" winter months. The polished silver is also a more expensive finish and considered the higher end wheel choice, right?

Here are a few pix of the wheels I cleaned for as they are being mounted Friday and there is also a picture of my Camaro with the RS option Midnight Silver wheels. I also have many pictures from different angles and in full blown winter in my profile's garage if you want to see more of the RS wheels.

Does anyone have pictures of a Summit White with either of these wheels? I even considered painting the Midnight Silver wheels matt black for winter, just not sure how it would look on my Summit White...

I would love all of your opinions' on this!

I prefer the MS wheels as I am anti-chrome. So in my perfect world I would plasti dip the wheels black. I feel like it would be a good offset with the white.

I like the polished wheels the best. Hope to pick up a set over the summer after i finish a few things i am planning on doing.

I'm not a big fan of GM's polished wheels. My Father had them on a newer Tahoe and they always look scratched, and since they're clear coated there is no way to actually polish them. I opted for Midnight Silver on my car. If you could polish them or if they were chrome they would be so much better.

I love the MS finish. It's a toss up really. They look the same. Your call.

Nascr3, I know what you mean. I noticed as I was cleaning the polished set that they look covered in tiny scratches. My MS wheels dont have the same bling but the are quite tasteful...still torn on whatnto do. Its actually cheaper for me to leave the MS wheels on the summer tires and simply mount the polished set tomthe winter rubber....what to do? Does anyone have pictures od a SW Camaro with the Polished wheels?

QFT. I always thought i wanted the polished, but when i saw two new yellow Camaros (one polished, one MS) side by side in the full sun, i changed my mind and went with MS. There were a lot of scratches under the clearcoat of the polished rims, and they weren't as shiny as chrome anyway.

JDB, I must admit you are starting to sway me now.... I agree with you in fact, I do like the MS finiah quite a bit and I thought of this also when I ordered my 2011 ... Ugh, still on the fence...any pictures out there of polished wheels on a SW Camaro?

It's a big fence. I still don't know if i'd be happier with the polished, but i AM very happy with the MS. They both look good, i just didn't want scratches. Luckily you have both to choose from right now, lol.

I prefer my midnight silver wheels because I'm typically not a fan of shiny stuff on cars. The less "bling", the better. Plus, they hide the excessive Brembo brake dust better than polished wheels. I wipe my wheels weekly and I can't believe how much dust comes off.

JDB, dang it! I just knew it! You too eh? I like em both equally and I just knew you preferred the MS cause you were sitting on them now! Well i'm back at square one. Ilike the MS finish most 'cause it's discreet, classy and tasteful. I always thought that out of all the OEM choices, it's the most desirable wheel of 'em all. (I also love the 18" steelies, but that's a subject for another post)

My problem is that I have both to choose from and with our rather long and cold Quebec winters the MS wheels will be on the car lost half the year anyways. It just seemed like the darker wheel was somehow more appropriate for winter and the polished better for summer.

Now that I think of it, wouldn't th MS finish repel winter snow and slush better than the polished?

Not the best pic but here's the polished wheel on my SW. No scratches here - these suckers gleam! Not true that you can't polish them cuz of the clear coat. Treat them like paint - use car polish and wax on them. I imagine winter would take a deadly toll on them though with all the gravel, etc.

They are definitely my preference to pair up with the white. Black looks good too, although I wouldn't rely on plasti-dipped wheels holding up in winter either. I'd go polished in summer and black or midnight in winter.

Guy in the next building over from me at work has the identical car to mine other than mine being an RS with the MS wheels. His are polished. Even he likes my wheels better and wishes he had ponied up for the RS package. MS in summer IMO

I feel like the longevity of both will be similar, but once the finish does start to break down, i think the MS wheels will look better. My bonneville wheels are partly polished/clearcoated, and when the finish on that broke down, it looked horrible. Bought new rims.
