Bumping

Hey all! It just occurs to me that I have a Manual! Does that mean if the battery goes out or gets drained I can aim down a hill and coast with the clutch depressed then put it in 1st or 2nd then release the clutch(this was known as "popping the clutch" in the old days)? I was hoping if this ever did happen I'd never need a jump. Thanks guys.

Yes, that will start the car (assuming the battery still has just enough left to send something to the electromagnet in the alternator).

There is nothing stopping you from trying it now. Not sure it will start. I will first chance I get.

I tried this with a manual once, had my brother push me around a parking lot for about 1/2 hour without getting it to start....

then he yelled out, "you got the key on?"

After turning on the key and popping the clutch one more time the car started with no problems. I didn't even slow down cause I could tell by the look in my brothers eye he woulda beat me hard.....
