Camaro 427 Concept Car from 2008 - Modern Day COPO Camaro - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hello fellow Camaro people!!!

Just had a question in regards to some of the early concept Camaro designs prior to the actual production run.

Back when these babies were being conceptualized, I remember reading about the optional 427 Camaro possibly being on the order block when they arrived, this would have been a great leap for GM and many would have ordered these big displacement muscle cars, There seems to be a lot of customizations towards this Car/Engine combination on YT and other sources on the W3.

I really like my 2010/1SS don't get me wrong, but why did they scrap this concept of the modern day COPO Camaro. I guess maybe only GM would know the answer.

If anyone has any info please share.

There was an LS7 concept car done for the SEMA show, is that what you're think of? Anyway, there was never really a chance that GM would offer an LS7 as a stand alone option. Too much effort on their part for not enough gain.

Anyway, there is a chance (albeit a remote one) that GM might possibly perhaps maybe offer the LS7 as the engine for the Z28 (which GM hasn't even acknowledged). But even there, its a bit of a long shot.

I think the SEMA one was the write up I saw at the time. Would be nice to see the Z28 as LS7 or even LSX 427.
