I want to rent a 5th gen for my wedding!
Does anyone have an idea of when the 5th gen will begin appearing in rental fleets? I know everyone wants their car before it ever shows up as a rental, but I'm curious to know if anyone has any inside info. My wedding is May 9th.......basically I'm guessing the chances are nill that I'll be able to stroll down to Hertz and snag one so that I can drive my bride away in style.
With my 1st-gen out of commission (possibly permanently with all of the rust that I've found) I really need to have a cool car to pull this thing off, everyone knows I'm a huge car nut, so I can't be seen leaving my own wedding in a limo. I will be purchasing my own 5thgen, but probably not until after we buy our first house this summer. Any ideas?

We can only hope the camaro doesnt become a fleet car. Kills the resale value and if the z28 comes out in a year or two I would want to get the most for my current car.

To bad you're in Houston, I'd let you use mine if its in before then. A car is just a car, but a wedding day made perfect lasts forever. C'mon guys, someone in the area help him out!

I'd love to have one at my wedding. That would be a fun car for driving away.

Here's my thought: BORROWING somebody's brand new baby under any circumstances would be very touchy. I would have to have ALOT of trust in someone to loan them my car outright for their wedding night. I would be very concerned about my car, for my sake and theirs. It's a huge responsibility to do such a thing. Renting takes that personal part out of the equation. Does that mean I would turn down a 5th-gen loan from a fellow Camaro nut? Probably not, but I would have to put up my fiances GTO, my 4thgen 6 banger, and my old truck as collateral or something just to make MYSELF feel better about it. Does anyone have any idea how deals like this would normally work? Say I found someone willing to loan my their 1st-gen for example.....What protects the both of us? Who's insurance would cover any claims? Thanks

I doubt you'll see it as a rental before next year comes.
Best bet would be to find someone local who gets it before then and see if you could use it.

Go to the nearest dealer and....
say you want to go for a loooooooooong test drive.
(Seriously if your wedding is later in the year a sympathetic one MIGHT let you "test drive" one from the church to the reception especially if your bride to be is cute) - maybe

You can check with national to try and find one if your part of the emerald club you can choose any car on the lot. Airport location here in town said they will get some from retail sales as they did with the new malibu and G8.
