Talking 2011 vs 2012 Mustang GT 5.0

I heard a 2012 GT owner sayin Ford changed some things in the 5.0's from 2011 models to 2012 models. Does anyone know what Ford did? He said it had something to do with the ECU's and engine. And I've heard a couple tuned 5.0 owners having troubles with their tunes and ECU's. Does anyone know about this? Chevy ftw!

As far as I know, nothing has changed in the engine. The only changes I've heard of are a new color, and the electric power steering now has three modes the driver can select from.

I haven't heard but Apex Paul may know. If that is the case it sucks because everything requires a tune on those cars, even just an air intake.

As far as I know there is no difference in the engine between '11 and '12. I can't say whether the ECU has different programming though but literature has not changed on power and torque.

I thought you only needed a tune if the maf housing on the CAI was larger then stock and CAI's that use the stock maf diameter dont require a tune.

Anyways there is no tune required for removing the foam inserts in the intake sound tube which delivers that CAI sound for free.

False. There are several CAI's that do not require a tune such as Airaid and C&L.

The only time a tune is needed for a CAI is if the MAF area is changed from stock just like the Camaro. I.E. 80mm to 83mm.

Throwing mods at any of the modern performance cars without a re-tune is not smart. Run one lean enough, increase detonation, etc. and you are finished.

I am not as involved on the Mustang side as I am on the Camaro but there seems to be an awful lot of those systems out there.

They've added a new exterior color called Lava Red, and a new interior also called Lava Red. There's also a new option for a shifter knob with an LED indicator of what gear you're in. I don't know if they changed any of the computer systems or not.

I just watched those videos, does anyone know if the same thing can be done to our Camaro's? Lol
