How much should I pay..service dept......

Ok, I got 2 free oil changes at my dealership when I bought my car and am having the first one done today. I have a V6 and have read on here that they will not use Mobil1 oil by default on the V6. I don't mind paying for the oil to have them use Mobil1, but want to make sure that I don't pay to much for it. What is most I should pay in the Service Dept. to have them use the Mobil1 oil instead of just regular Dexos oil? It has been my experience that the service dept at all dealerships are in the business of getting every dime they can out of you. I will be doing my own oil changes and maintenance after my free oil changes are up. Thanks for any info.

Yeah, but the LS3 and L99 use more quarts of oil than the LLT.

It's probably $30 for the oil change plus the cost of the oil.

Mobil1 is usually like $9 per quart, right?

tell them what to put in the crankcase, and you'll pay the difference !that shouldn't be a problem.mobil 1 is anywhere from $8-9 a quart around this neck of the woods.

I had no problems switching to Mobil1 when i had my v6. I didnt pay any extra for it. Only thing i paid for was the rear end fluid change. Im sure you can talk them into switching it.

Talk to them and see if they will do the oil changes with Mobil 1 and you just pay the difference.

Dexos is really good oil. It isn't cheap either. I would expect to pay about 30$ extra. I am a tech at a dealership. We use Gm Dexos, it's a semi synthetic.

I had mine changed a few weeks ago and requested Mobil1 for my v6. Cost me $75 bucks. All I can say is make sure they write it down and they use it. I requested it and the lady at the counter said "they know what to use" and I said "yes that is for the v8, I want it in mine which is a v6". Again she said "they know what to use" and I replied "can you just write it down" She did and they used it but took some convincing...

Sounds like the charming service writer lady at my dealership, or should I say former dealership. Customer service?

Well.....

Wasn't able to get ahold of the service dept today. Just kept getting recording. Sooo.......I picked up 6 quarts of Mobil1 5W-30 at my local Wal-mart and got a Wix brand oil filter from O'reily. (should have gone to the Napa next door to O'reily, as O'reily didn't have the 5 qt jugs of Mobil 1. I guess I will change it myself this time, and hold on to those two free oil changes at the dealership for sometime when I need them later. Anything out of the ordinary when changing the oil on this car? (other than remembering to reset the oil life monitor) Thanks.
