Magnaflow Res. X-Pipe Break in??

Yesterday I installed a Magnafloe X-pIpE on my car which is running FloeMaster 40s American Thunder Axle Backs. After the install my car ran like Sh!t compared to the stock H pipe although it sounded a hell of a lot better. Sh!t meaning it took a serious power loss. I felt it surge when stepping into it like it just could not expel the gases quick enough to get it going the way it used to. Needless to say I was so so sad. But today I get in and drive it and its like a whole new car because it was kicking ass and taking names. It was quicker than yesterday, quicker than the day before and quicker than ever. Just wondering if there is a break in period before these mufflers flow. Because I cant explain why it is so much quicker than yesterday or I just thought of this as I type....did the computer need to remap itself for this install?

Interesting..If anything, the x-pipe should help with the scavenging effect in return making your engine run more efficiently and giving you a little more power. I have no clue why it felt like that yesterday. Another thing to consider might be to just keep the x-pipe and remove the mufflers as long as you dont have a long tube header. Most peoples use the perforated x-pipe to get rid of drone and rasp due to header install but I heard some cars that sound bad a$$ with just the perforated x-pipe and no mufflers. Unless quieter note is what you are after.

I had 40 series flowmasters...it was amazing! Tons of rumble and very aggressive sound. But then I added long tubes and and high flows....it was horribly raspy. Just imagine taking the static on the TV and making it really loud. Keep in mind I have a resonator delete. So I added the magnaflow Res. Xpipe. I hated it! Totally killed the exhaust note. Sounded so muffled and had no more rumble. Sounded like I had pillows over my mufflers. So I did a muffler delete. Its better...a lot louder...very little rumble but I think it is kinda on the ricer side. But that's my opinion. Look at my thread in this section labled video of my new setup. Pretty good video

Didnt have that problem with mine so I dont know, could be ECU adapted to it as it runs good now from what you say. Technically it is supposed to boast low to mid range torque and helps to scavange the exhaust better, but you wont see and at the peak. And to the other replies, does unfortunately quiet the car down, as it is supposed to by the way, and smoothens the tone and reduces the rasp and drone which is why I got it in the first place. Also the rumble isnt as good with the mrtv2 due to this also. There will always be trade offs, just depends which ones we can or cant live with.

Yeah I didn't have this problem either. I just thought it made my magnaflow exhaust way too quiet at the time. Now with LT's it makes my sound just right and my performance seems to be fine. As long as it is running good now that is the most important thing

Yes sir! my long tube with no cats with magnaflow x-pipe def made my tone just right. ZERO rasp and ZERO drone. Not too loud and not too quiet. Throaty might be the best word to describe. Bubbly. throaty, one of a kind.

I put it on for a smoother sound which I like, like the power too. Finally a sound I am not ashamed of. The flowmasters sound like pure rice at 2.5 rpm because of the raspy tin can sound.
