Question about Launch Control

I'll keep it short and simple.
Is launch control possible for an automatic?

Now, what would happen if I were to be in neutral,
rev it up a bit, then drop it into drive?

You would be following your car on a flat bed to the dealership and then have some splainin to do.

I don't know about the Camaro Auto, but in my old 2000 Silverado, if you neutral dropped it or went into reverse at too high RPM, it would just stay in neutral. Kinda weird. Computers are cool.

Ok, i get that it's something I wouldn't want to do.
Now that i understand that, could someone explain to me why it would not work? I'm wanting to learn how the engine works. What does Launch Control do that makes it safe for Manuals? And why doesn't the same principle apply to Automatics? Just curious

The only way to have any kind of launch control in an automatic is replacing the torque convertor with a higher stall. I have seen many transmission cases busted to pieces due to people doing neutral drops, so you really don't want to do that.

Higher stall convertor will allow you to load up the engine more for a more powerful launch.

There's always the option of standing on the brakes a bit and reving if you wanted to launch at a higher RPM rather than idle RPM's

And a higher stall convertor will make the launch even better!

What does a Stall Converter do, and how would it work in this application?
