My impressions from sitting in SS in New Orleans

Sat in and inspected a SIM SS in New Orleans and here are my impressions for what they are worth;
1. Outside great- good proportions very stout lookin'
2. The misaligned interior panels seen in Rick Hendricks car were well aligned on this car.
3. The interior looked pleasing to my eye the plastic was textured fine. OK to be picky -the passenger side dash plastic can be pushed in about a 1/3 inch, the plastic rectangular surround of the tach and speedometer I could get my nail under and pull it out about a 1/8 inch- it is thin and the glove box is cheap.
4. The trunk is surprisingly small and the opening even smaller given the big hips shallow. I say maybe a foot deep- the battery/tire inflator is under the carpet- I am glad I ordered a real spare tire- V6 non-RS only option.
5. The rear seats will not accept anyone over 5'9" (my size) unless they slink down -their heads will hit the ceiling or their knees will hit the seat back. The Genesis coupe has the same problem- the Challenger is roomy in back and the seats front an back are great. The Genesis will appeal to some but if you look hard you will see that it too has compromises.
6. The door closed with bit of a shudder with the window 1/2 down.
7. More good- the Camaro's LS3 engine is about midway between the shock towers- the Challenger's 5.7 was way in front and the Genesis's 3.8 even more so.
8. The black rear diffuser was a bit flimsy- not an issue in my book.
9. I would change the black front grill to something better than the stock kids-toy plastic.
10. The car was THE MOST POPULAR by far!
11. The gauges are alot like the 69- for those who care for that - I keep thinking that they will be big dirt collectors when I saw them.
12. The fender wells have black plastic that is not as well attached to the fenders as the Mustang/Challenger.
13. I see fine out of the car- yes there is a big rear pillar- just use your mirrors, I could see fine out of the rear using the rear mirror.
14. The hood fit well - I have seen some photos that made me wonder.
15. The car is a good overall value...I think we are getting more than what we paid for relative to the competition.

Lots of pics of this car in another thread...Oh I forgot to mention that the exhaust headers are cast iron- steel tubulars could maybe shave some weight off here. Also looks like the two rear mufflers were positioned at the very rear of the car- if your allowed, they could be removed and maybe replaced with a straight pipe to save more #s. Also I think this car is going to be VERY SAFE! The design is excellent.

Nice honest review, Stevo! Why is my dealer not getting a showroom car until May? I'm sick already of just seeing pics and reviews on the Internet - I want to see the car, feel it, and drive it!!!

I am surprised you did not mention you were afraid of being impaled by the emergency brake lever in the applied position, or being blinded by the sun reflecting off the side view mirrors.

I think pictures making the hood look ill-fitting probably had the hood popped.

Hmm, a little disappointed that the glovebox is cheap. My Cobalt's is cheap hard plastic too, and the tire gauge causes some rattles sometimes.

I wonder what that door shutter is all about it happens in my coballt SS/SC too. If I close the door with the window more than a quarter of the way down it has a shutter, windows up closes like a solid thunk! It's a weird phenomena

irpq11,
It is at the Morial Convention Center- in the hall farthest away from the Riverwalk,
I went at 3-4 pm and got lots of time with it up close.

Thanx. Is it there Monday? Might be less people then.
