My 418 LS3 from ETMC!!

So I contacted East Texas Muscle Cars way back in February/March about putting together a 418ci stroker motor for my baby. Well Stephen got back to me, we threw some ideas around, and we came up with a final build spec, and scheduled the drop off. Well things happened, parts get delayed, dates pushed back and all that jazz. But that's the only downside to this whole process was how long they had to have the car.
And now for the meat and potatoes.

-418ci stroker short block built by Texas Speed
-Callies Compstar Crank and Rods, Wiseco 9.6:1 Pistons
-ARP2000 Crank and Rod Bolts
-CNC Stage 2.5 Ported Heads w/ PRC dual springs
-LS7 lifters
-ETMC Stage 2 FI Cam
-FAST 102 LSXR Intake Manifold, FAST 102 TB
-85lb/hr injectors (with cups to fit stock fuel rails)
-Big Flow long tube headers
-Custom Dyno Tune
And the results....476rwhp/462rwtq!

Now I'm sure some people are seeing all the work, and the displacement, in this motor and you might be wondering why it doesn't yield more power to the ground. Well if you look closely above, it was built with 9.6:1 compression pistons. My final build will include Twin Turbos, so Stephen and I decided to lower the NA power so we could shove more boost in later!

Review: I am thoroughly impressed with the results, and the quality of the car now that it's done. Besides being exactly what I was expecting to get out of the build, Stephen went so far as to re-position the control box for my halo's from AAC, and wrap it with wire loom; as well as a little clutch work when he put it all back together. End result, the car drives great, and is ridiculous amounts of fun! And to boot I have almost my entire stock LS3 sitting in my garage, just begging for wheels to turn! And the custom paint work makes me smile just a liiiiiiiiiittle bit more.

Just a quick word about the guys at East Texas Muscle Cars. Stephen was extremely helpful from day one, and never once tried to steer me in "his direction". He listened to my ideas and input, then gave me his opinions, recommendations, and a little of his "knowledge from experience." We've worked out the stages to my build, what all I need to do to get my baby where I want her to be, and the "good ideas" to support all the mods. He's dedicated to the point that he emailed me at almost 1 a.m. to tell me he couldn't call, but the car would be ready the next morning. All after he spent hours in the ER getting medical attention. And then he called me a week later to make sure I was happy with the results, and ask me if I had any questions or concerns that he could help with. In true car guy fashion, we ended up launching into a conversation about what my next mod should be, why, the best manufacturers, prices, etc.
Sorry for the novel everybody, but I just can't say enough about ETMC, the work they do, and the customer service!! Look it over, and let me know what y'all think!

Note to Stephen: Next time I'm out that way I hope you have shirts in stock! (but my coaster is getting lots of use)

The paint guy did a great job!! All I gave him was my ideas in words, and he made it look the way it does. The "ETMC Built" gives it an extra touch of class, I agree.

You definitely should!! It's a solid 2.5 hour drive for me, one way, to get out to the shop in Longview, but worth every minute. Won't take near as much gas to get there from where you're at!

Okay, now I have to hijack my own thread....

Long story short, took off hard, pushed the clutch pedal with definite authority, shifted 1-2, and.....clutch pedal stuck. Pulled over, called Stephen @ ETMC, checked under the car, and....blew the slave cylinder. Sweet. Apparently I was having too much fun for that particular part, and it decided it didn't want to party with me anymore. Stephen helped me out by referring me to a local shop that he trusts for the work, even called them to tell them I'd be coming over. Even after the sale, great customer service. Thanks again to East Texas Muscle Cars!! I'll let y'all know when I get back.....pray for my girl.

Congrats. Can't wait to see Stage2 Awesome. What kind of Turbos you planning on using? Sounds like it is going to be a jawdropping killer setup. Lucky to have a great local shop with great customer support.

Thanks BUSDRVR. We haven't made a final decision yet, but the idea we have right now is to use the IPS TT kit, with the Garrett GT3586 turbos. We'd have to modify some of the piping slightly to fit with my long tubes, but it would save money over a completely custom kit.

Quick update. When I blew my slave last week, Stephen recommended 21st Century Muscle Cars to do the work. I had the car dropped there, and three days later they were done with it. Not only had I blown the slave cylinder, the pilot bearing had wiped and was smeared on the tranny input shaft, and the input shaft was bouncing around inside the slave/clutch/etc. So the slave blowing was a good thing, they caught the bearing issue before it got to a whole tranny replacement! A few dollars later, and my baby is back on the road!! More to come in the future with the build!

Thanks again to Stephen at East Texas and all the guys at 21st Century for taking good care of me and my girl!
