Painted Rear End
A few weeks back I posted a thread asking for feedback on my proposed mod - painting the rear diffuser. I decided to move forward with it (and also painting the ugly shark fin on top). Here it is.. enjoy

looks very nice. I want to do this as well. Did you do it yourself or take it to a pro?
If you don't mind how much did it cost?

took it to pro. It was $250 for the new rear and antenna paint, and passenger mirror repaint (scraped a cabinet in my garage). I had an estimate for $150 just for the rear but that shop would not guarantee it. I did have them hit it twice - wasn't happy with the finish the first pass. After it dried started to see some inconsistency in the gloss. Looks fine now.
I would imagine if you're good with auto paint you could do it yourself. |

I wonder about the air space on top of the diffuser however. I suspect it was not as noticeable when the diffuser was black..... maybe why they left it black. Do you think it makes the diffuser looked "tacked on" ???

not at all. i was going to go full white and another owner shared a pic with me how they left the small grill black to break up the back. glad i took that route. also each shop said it would be nearly impossible to prep and smooth that grill area and was concerned about long term adhesion. the toughest thing is deciding where to create the break. i placed at the top of the bottom fold as it turns into the grill.

Looks nice. Would like to see a pic of the whole car with it. The only thing that would bother me with that painted is keeping it clean.

Thanks Hey, I noticed you are in Maryland. I am, too. I am trying to find a place to powder coat the silver alloy rim around my black 21" wheels. I want it done in the matching orange. I found a place in the Laurel area, but they won't respond to calls or e-mails. If you know anyone, I would greatly appreciate it. And again, your car looks awesome! I am just loving mine -- am a newbie owner (2 months). Drive it every day to work.

I don't but a friend of mine is also a camaro owner and knows of quite a few places for mods. Coming over this weekend. I'll ask if he's heard of any places.
