How much down???
So for those of you who have ALREADY put money down on a ZL1, how much is it to reserve a slot?
I'm planning on buying one and working my ass off to pay cash for it in Jan/Feb as long as the base model comes in around $50k. I'm new here, so hi to all and thanks for all the great info posted so far ~Justin |

1k is what my dealer asked for a deposit, and I believe
that's about the average from what I have seen reading on this forum. As far as MSRP hopefully will know more in the coming months. |

I gave mine $500.00 but that was over a year ago while we were still thinking it was going to be called a Z28. I keep in touch with him and he has not asked for a bigger deposit.

I don't see any reason to put deposit down, because this will hype things up and dealers will charge a lot more. This car is just like any other Camaro that will be mass produced and there is not limited edition of it. The less we beg for it, the less dealers will inflate the price and the opposite is also true. Just my two cents!

Only a fool would give a dealer money for a car that no one knows what will cost and dosent technically exist yet IMHO.

Catch me if you can
|
My dealership won't let me put anything down, as they haven't seen it being offered with official pricing. I was givin the promise of being able to choose the first one with options. Even if I don't pick it up.

[Comment From LBLB: ] Will dealers have any limits (ie, allocations) on orders they can fill for Camaro Zl1? Wednesday February 9, 2011 2:59 LB John Fitz - Camaro Marketing Mgr: Similar to what we have done in the past, we will provide dealers with an estimated production guide number before we start to accept orders for the ZL1 Wednesday February 9, 2011 2:59 John Fitz - Camaro Marketing Mgr [Comment From BobBob: ] Availability? Wednesday February 9, 2011 3:09 Tysen 3:10 John Fitz - Camaro Marketing Mgr: Tysen -- we will build many more than 69 ZL1s... Wednesday February 9, 2011 3:10 John Fitz - Camaro Marketing Mgr 3:10 [Comment From screamin eagle screamin eagle: ] I have a conv. ordered now can I change to buy the pace car- when? John Fitz - Camaro Marketing Mgr: Screamin eagle -- there will be only 400 Indy Pace Car replica models available in the U.S. They will be only offered through the top selling Camaro dealers. [Comment From richierich richierich: ] limited production? John Fitz - Camaro Marketing Mgr: Richierich -- will do everything to match the market demand.. [Comment From The Rock The Rock: ] I apologize if this has already been addressed, I just got here. Anyway, will the ZL1 be offered @ all dealers or is this another limited edition only available @ top dealers? John Fitz - Camaro Marketing Mgr: The Rock -- we'll announce ordering and allocation plans later this year I have spoken with a few reputable insiders, and have been told during discussion over production volume and availabiltiy that it will be limited, it will be low numbers, and may even be limited to top dealers only. Time will tell how many Chevy will build and pre-production demand will decide the final outcome. Chevy wants to keep it low because of the speciality of the car, it's name and heritage. Folks, research what Ford is doing with Boss and GT500 production limits...we are not going to be any different, and we may be even more exclusive. And rightfuly so I believe. It's a tribute car. A present day salute to the past. Like fine wine, precious metals, and all things number one, they are rare, highly sought after and hard to come by. Just my read and o2 on things.

I did it to ensure I'd get an MSRP deal at launch. To me it's a small price to pay (for the guy talking about interest on $500, what is that $20, lol) to avoid having to mess around with dealers and their "market adjustments" when this thing finally goes on sale. The $500 is fully refundable and goes towards the purchase price of the car at MSRP. But you're right, to each their own. |
