I put on an oil catch can after reading in several posts that it was a MUST-HAVE and the dangers of NOT having one..That was a year ago..I have YET to see a single drop of oil drain from it. Waste of money IMO...

Did you buy the el cheapo version like this off ebay?

I have personally see the functionality off all the competitor catch cans.... and those cheap ones are poorly designed.

OP

if you do buy one.. i only recommend Rx's catch can... I promise you that it works.

I bought mine from Elite Engineering.
It works great and it is needed.
If your catch can isnt picking up anything, it may not be installed correctly.

Heck, I just used the Home Depot air compressor water separator catch can & it collects a lot of oil.

Double-checked the install several times. It's an Rx catch can...looks nice, just doesn't "catch" anything. I looked inside the manifold too. Clean as a whistle...Maybe I'm just lucky???

A beer can can catch oil. What makes a good one good is the amount it holds and the internal workings.

Send the seller a email asking how much it holds and for pics of it taken apart and it's internal workings. Imo, anything less than a quart size I wouldn't bother with (remember oil needs lots of room to condense and collect). If the collector looks like it isn't big or spends much time in contact with the air, don't buy it.

One of the things that red flagged it to me is a) he didn't post any information on the catch can itself and b) he posted it normally sells for $100 but he has them up for almost half the price, 1/3 the price of the good name catch cans.

Keep in mind that you will see the catch can working if you drive aggresively your car, for example, track. If you don't really push the engine, there will not be enough pressure to push oil out through the PCV valve and catch can.

Thanks

Yeah, I RARELY push her hard... I guess it's more of a "peace-of-mind" thing really, so in that respect, it's worth it..

I have an Elite Engineering catch can and they DO work. Last time I checked it had a good 1 - 2 tablespoons of oil in it. Don't buy a junk one. You can find an Elite for $175.00. Money well spent.
