you can do it. but keep in mind, that no matter what you do to a v6, it wont sound like a v-8. thats not saying you cant make a v6 sound bad ass tho. cus you can.

They already spent a lot of time and effort into tuning the exhaust.
I would wait till you own it a while and see what companies come up with. Gonna be hard to beat. It's the best V6 sound I have ever heard. Only thing close to cool like that was the old straight six'ers in Fbodies back in the day. |

well i got to rev it and drive in it, so i know the 6 sound and its great, but after hearing the Z06 with exhausts valves i was like WOW
And then i wondered if this will make our 6 sound amazing? Im hoping it will I know what you guys mean, they did spend alot of time oin it and it does sound great, but i want to make it better. If it made the v8 sound amazing (exhausts cut outs) i wonder how amazing our V6 will sound. I know it wont sound V8, i know that for sure, but i just wanted know if this will work for our 6 and if it does any damage. P.S i will find the link for you guys. Its amazing |

just cause the v6 has v8 like power will not make it sound anything like a v8, the sound of a v8 is distinctive due to the extra cylinders not the horsepower. And the vette he is referring to is cammed pretty heavily, no stock engine v6 or v8 is going to sound like that. I have a cutout on my 98 ls1 camaro though and can tell you it makes the car sound twice as mean.

people are missing my point, i know it wont sound like that, but my point was how cut out exhausts valves made the car sound like a race car. I know the V6 will have its own distinctive sound, but imagine that V8 race car like sound, but V6ish, that should sound amazing right?!
P.S sadly a 6 will always sound like a 6. You can only make it better and hopefully exhausts valves might do the trick

I have to find the video, but someone on the Z24 forums has cutouts on his car and it sounds pretty deep and bad ass for a V6.
I've also had the pleasure of hearing one with just a down pipe in person.

I've heard open exhaust v6's and they sound pretty crappy. Actually, open exhaust v8's don't sound all THAT great either.
They only sound like racecars to people who don't know what racecars really sound like. |

Agree............. If you're not drag racing the car what point is it to have a free flowing exhaust? Also the lack of back pressure can have a real bad effect on a valve train that was not designed for this.

I think open headers sound amazing on a V8. I have them on my BB chevelle, gets me wet every time I open them. Its useless for the street but sounds great, which is what most people get them for.

Better fuel mileage along with the extra power. Yes no back pressure can be bad, but you'd have to be running open headers to get to that point. |
